Local transport

Train

Two subway lines connect the airport with Shanghai. Subway line 10 stops at both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, line 2 only has a station in the newer Terminal 2.

Car and bus

Shanghai Hongqiao Airport is situated 13 kilometers southwest of the city center. The airport is easily accessible by rental car. Shanghai's inner ring road (Yan’an Xilu Highway) runs past the airport. The way is clearly signposted, not only in Chinese but also in English. You can easily reach Pudong Airport via the outer ring road (allow 30-40 minutes to travel between both airports).

There are several buses to different destinations in Shanghai. Bus 925 runs to the People's Square, bus 938 to Pudong Yangjiadu, bus 806 to Zhongshan South Yi Road, bus 807 to Shanghai West Railway Station, and bus 941 to Shanghai's main train station. Buses can be very crowded and there's little room for baggage. There are also long-distance buses to Suzhou, Nan Jing and Hongzhou. More information about bus connections can be obtained via telephone +86(0)21 6834 6912.

Large hotels have their own shuttle connection with Shanghai Hongqiao Airport.

Car rental Shanghai Hongqiao Airport

Seven car rental companies are present at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport: Advantage, Alamo, Budget, Discount, Dollar, Hertz and National. You can find the counters of the rental companies in the Arrivals Hall.

Taxi

Taxis can be found outside the Arrivals Hall. These all have a meter, but make sure the driver turns it on. Traveling to Shanghai center will take 30-40 minutes (outside rush hour). Make sure to stand in the right line; taxi lines are arranged per destination. The destinations are also indicated in English.

Airport Parking

There are large parking lots in front of both terminals. These are for both short and long-term parking. Long-term parking places are of course further away from the terminal than those for short-term parking.
