Local transport

Train

If you would like to travel to western New Zealand by train, the airport's bus service takes you to Mt Eden station. If you choose to travel south, a different bus will take you to Papatoetoe station (see below).

Car and bus

The airport is situated about 21 kilometers southwest of downtown Auckland. You can take highways 20A and 20B to get there. Outside rush-hours it will take you 40 minutes to get to Auckland and 20 minutes to Manukau.

There's a special bus service of Citybus departing every 15 minutes. The Airbus Express takes you to downtown Auckland 24 hours per day. Bus services 375 and 380 go from the airport to the centers of Botany and Manukau. For more information and timetables go to MAXX travel information (tel. +64(0)9 366 6400).

Car rental Auckland Airport

There are car rental agencies in both terminals: Avis, Europcar, Hertz, Thrifty en Budget. You can make a reservation in advance with EasyTerra, this website compares several car rental agencies and their rates.

Taxi

Taxicabs are available at both terminals. A trip to Auckland costs about NZD 70.00. The shuttle bus costs about NZD 35.00 per person.

Parking at the airport

There is a sufficient amount of short and long term parking facilities available at walking distance from both terminals. One day of short term parking costs NZD 32.00.
