Brisbane airport: Gold Coast Airport, Australia (OOL)

Gold Coast Airport, Australia

Gold Coast Airport used to be called Coolangatta Airport. Originally it wasn't more than a patch of grass for light planes. In 1980 a terminal was built and the name was changed into Gold Coast Airport. The airport processes three million passengers a year. The domestic terminal is the busiest, but since the arrival of budget airlines the number of international flights is steadily increasing.

It's the gateway to the beaches on the so-called Gold Coast, on Australia's east coast.
