Local transport

Train

The S-Bahn train lines S1 and S8 go to the center of Munich, travel time is 40 minutes and costs approximately €9.00, the trains stop at various stations including Hauptbahnhof, Marienplatz, Laim and Ostbahnhof.

Car and bus

The airport is 28 kilometers northeast of Munich along highway A92, which connects to the ring road (A99) around Munich. An alternative route is through the Bundesstrasse 388 to Erding, just before Erding you take a left to the airport.

A shuttle bus from Autobus Oberbayern (tel: +49(0)89 323 040) leaves from both terminals to the central station (Hauptbahnhof) in Munich. If there are large exhibitions or trade shows in the Messe München then a shuttle bus also rides to the exhibition center. Bus tickets are for sale at the Service Center (tel: +49(0)89 9752 1375) on the third floor.

Car rental - Munich Airport

In the MAC center there are counters for car rental companies: Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, National/Alamo and Sixt. The rental cars are in parking garage P6. You can also reserve a rental car in advance using the service EasyTerra provides, they compare the rates of several car rental providers in a single quote.

Taxi

Taxis are in front of the Arrivals Hall (tel: +49(0)89 9758 5050). The cost of a ride to the center of Munich is approximately €50.00 in normal traffic and more expensive when there is heavy traffic.

Airport Parking

The airport has a large number of parking places, the underground garages P1, P2, P3, P4, P9 and P26 are under the airport hotel, and the tower garages P6, P7, P8, P20, and P25, all these garages are directly connected with the terminal. For long-term parking there is parking area P41, along the Nordallee, P51 and P53. A shuttle bus goes from these parking areas to the terminal.
