Berlin Schoenefeld Airport

Berlin Schoenefeld Airport will be greatly expanded and renovated in the coming years. It is predetermined to become the only airport in Berlin under the name Hauptstadt-Airport Berlin-Brandenburg International (BBI). The other airports in the German capital will be closed, the small Tempelhof was closed in 2007 and the Tegel airport will be closed in 2011.

There are four terminals (A, B, C and D), of which Terminal A is the largest and most important. Terminal D is for German Wings and Terminal B for other budget companies, the smaller Terminal C is temporarily closed.

Local transport


The train station (Berlin-Schönefeld Flughafen) is close to the terminal. There is a corridor (300 m.) from Terminal A to the station, there is also a shuttle bus. A train leaves every half hour from the station to the Central Station (Hauptbahnhof) and Station Zoo. There are also many InterCity trains at the airport station, there is a direct connection with Potsdam, Rostock, Hamburg, Hannover, Dresden, Munich and Vienna, the train station is the last stop of the S-Bahn line (another rail line) S9 and S45.

Car and bus

The airport is 16 kilometers southwest of the city center. Highway (Autobahn) A113 has recently been constructed in 2008, it will run below the airport and connect to the Berlin ring road A100 at Neukölln.

The BVG buses leave from right outside Terminal A (tel: +49(0)30 19449). Line 162 goes to the S-Bahnstation Adlershof, line 163 goes to the S-Bahnstation Grünau and line 172 goes to the metro station Hermannplatz. There is a JetExpressBus that goes to metro station Rudow, there are two services at night, bus N60 goes to Adlershof and bus N46 goes to the Kurfürstendamm and Station Zoo. There are also buses that only stop at the train station, among others, are lines 136 and 163 to Grünau, and lines 734 and 736. The BVG Welcome Card (for traveling with public transport) is available by the newspaper kiosk next to the information counter.

On Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 22:15 there is a BEX Bus (tel: +49(0)30 8609 6211) to the Polish capital Warsaw. This bus departs from the center of Berlin by the television tower.

Car rental - Berlin Schoenefeld Airport

Right before the exit of Terminal A are counters for car rental companies: Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt. You can also reserve a rental car in advance using the service EasyTerra provides, they compare the rates of several car rental providers in a single quote.


The taxis are outside the Arrivals Hall of Terminal A. A ride to the center of Berlin is approximately €35.00 to €40.00.

Airport Parking

The area for short-term parking is close to Terminal B, P3 costs €1.50 for the first hour and €1.50 per 15 minutes thereafter. Parking garage P4 is not far from there and the first 2 hours cost €3.00 per hour and €2.50 per hour thereafter. All other parking lots: P1, 2, 5, 6, 8 & 11, cost €19.00 per day, €80.00 for one week and €100.00 for two weeks.

There are no hotels at the airport. Shops and restaurants

Schoenefeld Airport has a good range of shops and restaurants which are especially concentrated in Terminal A, there is only a Duty Free shop in Terminal D.


You can store your baggage in parking garage P4, a small safe costs €2.00 per day and a large safe costs €4.00 per day. There are also baggage safes in the train station. On the ground level of Terminal A there is a window for lost and found items.


To the left of the entrance there is a general information counter, besides information about the airport you can also get information about public transportation in Berlin.


The Hugo-Junkers-Lounge (tel: +49(0)30 6091 6036) on the second level of Terminal A offers business services: fax machine, copy machine, and internet connection. Extensive facilities are in the Airport Conference Center Berlin-Schönefeld GmbH (tel: +49(0)30 6091 2222), approximately 900 meters from the terminal, there are rooms available for 20-300 people, which can be reserved online.

Disabled facilities

The airport has outstanding accessibility for the disabled. All facilities (restrooms, elevators and telephones) are adapted. There are text telephones for the hearing impaired. In parking areas P1, P3 and P6 there are reserved places for disabled travelers.

Other services

Banks, a money exchange office and ATM's are only in Terminal A. There is also a post office and a children’s corner with toys and videos. In building C007, between P3 and P4 there is a First Aid station (tel: +49(0)30 6091 6806). There are also baby rooms available, the key is available at the information counter.
