Kunming Wujiaba International Airport
Kunming Airport is the gateway to what many consider to be the kindliest province of China. The airport lies close to the city center which leaves little room for expansion. Therefore a new airport, Kunming Xiaoshao International Airport, is being built east of the city. Once finished, Wujiaba will be closed. The new airport will be the fourth-largest of China (after Beijing, Shanghai-Pudong and Guangzhou).
IATA airport code: KMG
ICAO airport code: ZPPP
There's no train connection between the airport and Kunming. There are buses to one of the two train stations in the city, from where you can travel on to other destinations.
Car and bus
Kunming Airport is situated only four kilometers from the city center and is easily accessible by rental car. Kunming Shi Highway leads directly to the airport. This freeway connects with both the outer and inner ring road of Kunming. Via these ring roads you can easily access any destination in the city. Keep in mind though that many destinations are only indicated in Chinese.
Three city buses (52, 67 and 78) connect the airport with Kunming. These buses have their terminus at one of the two train stations in the city.
Many hotels offer a shuttle bus service.

There are only counters of Chinese car rental companies in the Arrivals Hall. In most cases they rent out chauffeur-driven cars.
There are taxis outside the Arrivals Hall. Not all taxis have a meter and when they do, drivers often claim they are broken. A ride to the city takes about 20 minutes and costs approximately 15 yuan.
The short-term parking lot lies just outside the terminal. An open-air long-term parking lot lies a bit further out. More information about parking at Kunming Airport via Tel. +86(0)871 711 6114.

On the second floor of the terminal there's a counter to deposit baggage at a cost of 5 yuan per four hours.
There are information desks (Tel. +86(0)871 711 6114) in both the Arrivals and Departure Halls. This doesn't imply you will also find the information you're looking for. Apart from some basic facilities like faxing and copying at the general information desks and the Best Commercial VIP Lounge Kunming Airport doesn't offer business facilities. For this you need to turn to the Jia Lu Da Airport Hotel (see Hotels) which also offers meeting space and conference rooms.
Kunming Airport has good accessibility for the disabled. There are wheelchair ramps and adapted elevators, toilets and telephones. On the short-term parking lot places have also been reserved for disabled travelers.
