Florence Airport (FLR)
The Florence Airport (Italian: Firenze) is named after the Italian businessman and cartographer Amerigo Vespucci. It is also called Peretola Airport. The airport is not far (80 km) from the airport of Pisa, Galileo Galilei. Together these airports form an entrance gateway to Tuscany, one of the most popular holiday areas in Italy.
The airport was renovated in 2006 in order capture the increase of travelers. Florence Airport now processes more than one and a half million passengers per year.
Local transport
Train
There is no train connection with the airport. From the Florence train station there are good connections with the rest of Italy, for instance to Siena and Pisa.
Car and bus
The airport is four kilometers northwest of Florence. From the city center you follow the Viale Guidoni in the direction of highway A1. The airport is at the Firenze Nord exit.
Shuttle busses leave more than 60 times per day (Ataf, tel: +39(0)800 424 500 and Sita, tel: +39(0)800 373 760) from the airport to the center of Florence. These busses have their stops at the train station (S.M. Novella).
Car rental Florence Airport
You can find the counters for car rental companies outside of the Arrivals Hall. Auto Europa/Sicily by Car, Avis, Europcar, Hertz, Italy by Car, Maggiore/National and Winrent are represented. You can also reserve a rental car in advance using the service EasyTerra provides. They compare the rates of several providers in a single quote.
Taxi
The taxi stand area is in front of the Arrivals Hall (tel: +39(0)55 4242). A ride to Florence lasts about 15 minutes and costs around € 15.00. All official taxis have meters.
Airport Parking
There are 241 places for short term parking. The first ten minutes are free, but after that you pay € 2.00 for the first hour and € 1.00 for each following hour.
There are 640 long term parking places available (first five hours € 1.00, up to twelve hours parking € 6.00, then € 14.00 per day). For information about parking you can call tel: +39(0)55 310294).

Hotels
There are no hotels at the airport. The new Novotel Firenze Nord Aeroporto (tel: +39(0)55 308338) is two kilometers from the airport. There are a lot of hotels in Florence. Shops and restaurants
The airport has a reasonable offering of shops, both in the area accessible for everyone and in the area only for travelers.
Furthermore, there are a few coffee shops, bars and a self service restaurant.
Baggage
You can find the counter for lost and found items in the Arrivals Hall (tel: ++39(0)55 3061302).

In the Arrivals Hall you can find a counter with information about the airport and flights (tel: +39(0)55 3061300) and a separate counter for tourist information (tel: +39(0)55 315874).
Business
Each passenger with a boarding pass has access to the ‘Masaccio Lounge’ on the first level of the Departures Hall. There you can also find offices to rent equipped with computers with internet connection. Furthermore, the airport has a meeting room for a maximum of ten persons. You must reserve them a minimum 10 days in advance.
Handicapped persons
The airport is very accessible for handicapped persons. There are wheelchair ramps and adapted elevators, restrooms and telephones. There is a special counter outside the Departures Hall where passengers can ask for assistance.
Other services
All customary services are available at the airport: banks, money exchange offices, cash machines, a post office and a First Aid post.
