Manchester Airport

Manchester Airport (MAN)
The airport is 17 kilometers southwest of the centre of Manchester. There are two runways and three terminals. Just like Schiphol there are roll bands or rolling sidewalks at this airport. It is the third busiest airport in Great Britain after the London airports Heathrow Airport and Gatwick Airport. In 2006 Manchester Airport processed 22 million passengers. According to expectations this number will double by 2015. There are many activities planned to take care of this growth.
Prices are given here in the British pound (£). £ 1.00 = € 1.49 (December 2006).
Local transport
Train
The airport has a combined bus and train station that is called The Station. Many trains from the north of England and the Midlands come to the station. Other destinations are accessible from the Manchester Piccadilly in the city centre. There are plans to put in a monorail between the airport and Piccadilly; now this route is still used by regular service trains.

The airport is along the motorway M56 (exit 5) that connects to the ring road around Manchester (M60, exit 4). The routes to the various terminals are clearly indicated on the traffic signs.
