Carcassonne Airport (CCF)
This small airport is officially called Salvaza Airport. That is useful to know if you are driving with a car to the airport (see in Car and Bus section). The airport is three kilometers outside of Carcassonne in the Languedoc area of southern France, approximately 90 kilometers southeast of Toulouse.
Only the budget airline Ryanair uses this airport. The number of passengers has greatly increased in the past few years. In 2002 the airport processed more than 200,000 passengers. Ryanair is aiming for 600,000 travelers to and from Carcassonne in 2007. The company now flies from London-Stansted, Liverpool, Charleroi and Dublin. It is the intention to extend the number of destinations, including Eindhoven and Frankfurt.
Local transport
Train
There is no train connection with the airport, but Carcassonne does have a train station.
Car and bus
The airport is on the A-61, exit 23. The posted signs are not that clear. From the highway first follow the signs to Mazamet. On the website you can find a map of the roads around the airport.
A shuttle bus that is connected with the times of incoming flights leaves from the airport to Carcassonne. The bus stops at the train station, the Place Davilla, the Place Gambetta and in La Cité. Price: € 5.00, and children until 7 years are free. The Aerobus service offers transportation from Carcassonne Airport into the region.
Car rental Carcassonne Airport
There are five car rental companies: ADA, Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz and Location Occitane. ADA and Location Occitane often have the cheapest offers. You can also reserve a rental car in advance using the service EasyTerra provides. They compare the rates of several providers in a single quote.
Taxi
Taxis are in front of the Arrivals Hall, but often there are not enough to satisfy the demand. A ride to the centre of Carcassonne costs approximately € 12.00.
Airport Parking
The first half hour of parking is free. After that you pay € 2.00 for the second half hour and € 4.00 for 1-4 hours of parking. One day of parking costs € 8.00, and a week costs € 34.00. Frequent users of the airport can consider a parking pass that costs € 150.00 for three months € 460.00 per year.

Opposite the airport there is the modest hotel called Air Motel Salvaza (tel: +33(0)468 103 550). The city of Carcassonne offers a selection of hotel options. Shops and restaurants
This small airport has a limited number of shops: a newspaper and magazine store and a store with local products. On the ground floor there is a snack bar, and on the first floor you can find a French restaurant (Le Salvaza, tel: +33(0)468 478 819) that serves excellent meals.
Baggage
By the general information counter you can inquire about misplaced baggage. You cannot store baggage at the airport.
Information
There is a central information point (tel: +33(0)468 719 646) for all information: arrival and departure times, the VIP Lounge, tourist information, etc. You can also leave messages here.
Business
The airport has meeting facilities with a capacity up to 300 persons. There is also a VIP Lounge (tel: +33(0)468 478 819). You can use fax and copy machines at the information point.
Handicapped persons
Handicapped persons can park for free close to the terminal building. There are wheelchair ramps and adapted restrooms. There are still no elevators at this airport! You can ask for assistance at tel: +33(0)468 719 646.
Other services
There are cash machines from Société Générale. In the women’s restrooms there are facilities to care for babies.
