Buenos Aires airport: Buenos Aires Ezeiza Ministro Pistarini International Airport (EZE)

Buenos Aires Ezeiza Ministro Pistarini International Airport

Argentina's capital has two international airports, of which Ministro Pistarini Airport is by far the most important. This airport processes over 9 million passengers a year. The airport is also called Ezeiza Airport, to distinguish it from the other airport near the city, Jorge Newbery Airport.

Local transport

There's no train connection with Buenos Aires Ezeiza Airport. The nearest train station is Ezeiza, and can be reached with bus line 518.

Car and bus

The airport is situated 35 kilometers southwest of Buenos Aires. The airport is easily accessible by rental car: from the airport the toll road Autopista Riccheri (road number A002) leads to Buenos Aires. It's a little more complicated from the city center. From the Plaza San Martín you drive via the Calle San Martín, Avenida Del Libertador, Avenida Maipú, Calle Arenales, Avenida 9 de Julio and the Avenida Dellepiane to the toll road Riccheri. Fortunately the way to the airport is signposted at many locations in the city.

Bus company Manuel Tienda Leon maintains a connection with their Terminal Madero on Plaza San Martin in the center of Buenos Aires. Some busses subsequently continue to Jorge Newbery Airport.

Bus 8 runs from the airport to Plaza de Mayo, but takes a very long time to reach this end destination.

Car rental Buenos Aires Ezeiza Airport

You can rent a car in the Arrivals Hall of Terminal A. Two car rental companies are present at Buenos Aires Ezeiza Airport: Avis and Hertz. You can also book a rental car in advance using the service provided by EasyTerra; they compare the rates of several providers in a single quote.

Ticket counters of Taxi Ezeiza can be found in the Arrivals Hall of Terminal A and outside the Arrivals Hall of Terminal B. You pay a fixed rate (approximately 150 pesos). This is by the way not the cheapest rate, the 'independent' taxi drivers outside the terminal charge less. Traveling to Buenos Aires takes about 35-45 minutes.

Airport Parking

Terminal A is connected with a large parking garage. Outside lies an uncovered parking lot. You pay 13 pesos per hour, or 78 pesos per day.

There are no hotels at Buenos Aires Ezeiza Airport. The nearest hotels are Posada de las Aguilas‎ (Tel. +54(0)11 4480 9637), Torre Cristoforo Colombo Suites‎ (Tel. +54(0)11 4778 4900), MD Inn Hotel (Tel. +54(0)11 4281 1683) and the Gran Hotel Azul (Tel. +54(0)2281 422 011). Luxury hotels can be found in the city center, including Hotel Panamericano (Tel. +54(0)11 4348 5000) and Holiday Inn Express Puerto Madero (Tel. +54(0)11 4311 5200). For more hotels and to book online you can go to Booking.com. They offer a large range of hotels at competitive internet rates.

Shops and restaurants

There's a fair range of shops at Buenos Aires Ezeiza Airport, including duty-free shops. The number of eating and drinking facilities however is disappointing.

There's a desk to deposit your baggage on the ground floor of Terminal A; there are also lockers. You can inquire about lost objects with the airport police. There are also several places where you can have your baggage wrapped in plastic.

There are information desks (Tel. +54(0)11 5480 6111) on the ground floor of both Terminal A and Terminal B for inquiries about flight schedules and airport services. There are also telephones everywhere to contact the information desk directly. The Tourist Office has a counter in the Arrivals Hall of Terminal A and near the baggage claim area in Terminal B.

There are several VIP lounges from different airlines where you can fax, copy, make international telephone calls and use the internet. The airport VIP lounge (Tel. +54(0)11 5480 2002) is located on the ground floor of Terminal A. For extensive business facilities, like renting meeting space and conference rooms, you better turn to the business hotels in Buenos Aires (see Hotels).

Disabled facilities

Buenos Aires Ezeiza Airport has excellent accessibility for the disabled. There are wheelchair ramps, adapted elevators and toilets, low-hanging telephones and special telephones for the hearing-impaired. Parking places have also been reserved for disabled persons near the entrance of both terminals.

Other services

There are banks, exchange offices and ATM's scattered around the terminals. Keep in mind that exchange offices often offer a worse rate than the branch of the National Bank in the Arrivals Hall. The First Aid station can be found on the ground floor of Terminal A. In addition, there are pharmacies, kiosks to rent cell phones and you have access to wireless internet (Wi-Fi) in both terminals.
