Boston Logan International Airport

The full name of Boston's airport is General Edward Lawrence Logan International Airport, and it processes over 27 million passengers each year, which makes it one of the 20 busiest airports in the United States. Boston Logan has six runways and five terminals: A and B (divided into North and South), C and D for international flights (until 2008 this was terminal E).

There is a subway link (MBTA Blue Line) that connects Boston to the subway station Airport, from this station, there are shuttle buses to the terminals.

Car, bus and boat

Boston Logan Airport is located 6 kilometers to the northeast of Boston. From the west and south, take Turnpike East, which leads directly to the airport via the Ted Williams tunnel. From the north of the city there are two options: via the I-93 through the Callahan tunnel, or via the I-95, follow the signs to 1A South Logan International Airport.

A speed link bus (Silver Line SL1) connects the airport with South Station in Boston. There, you can switch to the subway or take the Greyhound and Peter Pan buses to southern Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

In addition, there are shuttle buses to Logan Dock, where a ferry will take you to Boston Waterfront, MBTA Harbor Express (tel: +1(0) 617-222-3200).

Car rental - Boston Logan International Airport

There are seven car rental companies with offices at the airport: Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty. You can also book a car in advance at EasyTerra, which offers a comparison of several providers.


There are taxis at all the terminals. Up to a distance of 12 miles, taxis use a meter, after that, a fixed rate of $2.60 per mile applies, also, there is a $2.25 surcharge. The harbor tunnel toll is $5.25. A taxi ride to the center of Boston costs between $20.00 and $45.00.

Airport Parking

At the busiest terminal (B), there is a car park, with an hourly rate of $3.00 or a daily rate of $24.00, these rates also apply to the Central Parking Garage and the parking area at terminal D. Long-term parking (Economy Parking) costs $18.00 a day or $108.00 a week. There is a shuttle bus to the terminals every twenty minutes.

Shops and restaurants

Boston Logan Airport has a large number of restaurants, snack bars, cafés and shops in all the terminals. Duty Free shops are only located in Terminals B, C and D.


For safety reasons there are no baggage safes at Boston Logan Airport. For lost and found objects, please contact the Massachusetts State Police in Terminal D (tel: +1(0)617 561 1714).


In Terminals B, C and D there are help desks that provide information about the airport, flight times and transport to and from the airport. At International Terminal D, there is a Travelers Aid kiosk near the exit to the taxi stand.


Terminal C houses a service desk that offers fax, telephone and cell phone rental facilities. The airport hotels Harborside Hyatt, Embassy Suites and Hilton all offer excellent meeting and conference facilities (see the telephone numbers under Hotels). The Hilton is connected directly to the airport building via a covered elevated bridge. The ECC is located at the other side of the harbor, and offers small and large meeting and reception rooms for up to 200 people, for further information (tel: +1(0)617 530 9460).

Disabled facilities

Boston Logan Airport offers excellent facilities for disabled people. There are disabled parking spaces, wheelchair slopes and modified elevators, toilets and telephones. For assistance, contact the airport office of the Massachusetts State Police in Terminal D. There are banks, exchange offices and ATM's in all the terminals. In addition, there is wireless internet access everywhere. In Terminals A and C there are playing areas for kids (Kidports).
