Getting from Rome Fiumicino Airport to Rome

The distance from Rome Leonardo da Vinci to the centre of Rome is about 19 miles (30 kilometers). You have several options to easily get to the centre of Rome by public transport. Every 15 minutes the Leonardo Express train leaves from the airport and travels directly to Rome Termini railway station, which is in the heart of Rome. The journey takes about 32 minutes. You can also use the regional train (FL1). Where the Leonardo Express takes you directly to Rome Termini, the regional train has several stops in Rome. You can use the regional train to get to Rome Tiburtina.

If you rather travel by bus, there are several bus companies that travel to Rome from the Airport. Most of these leave from the exit of Terminal 3 (T3). The only company that leaves from Terminal 2 (T2) is COTRAL. Traveling by bus from the airport to the centre of Rome takes about 55 minutes. Most of the buses leave from the airport every 30 minutes.

Train

There is a direct train connection every 30 minutes with Rome Termini central station via the Leonardo Express, the cost is €9.50. The local train Fr1 leaves every 20 minutes to the station Tiburtina with stops at Trastevere, Ostiense and Tuscolana, the cost is €5.00 and tickets can be purchased in machines in the terminal. The COTRAL bus rides at night between 01:15–05:00 to the train stations Termini and Tiburtina.

Car and bus

The airport is southwest of Rome and is easily accessible from the ring road around the Italian capital. Take the exit to Fiumicino (A12) and follow the signs to the airport.

Terravision (tel: +39(0)665 958 646) maintains a shuttle bus service to the center of Rome, a ticket costs €9.00 and the bus also stops at the metro station Lepanto and by the central station in Rome, Termini. The company has information counters in all Arrival Halls.

Car rental - Rome Fiumicino Airport (Leonardo da Vinci)

Several car rental companies have a counter at Fiumicino Airport: Avis, Italy by Car, Europcar, Hertz, Maggiore Budget, Targa Rent, Auto Europa and Sixt. You can also reserve a rental car in advance using the service EasyTerra provides, they compare the rates of several providers in a single quote.

Taxi

The Airport Connection Shuttle (tel: +39(0)633 832 21) has transportation from the airport to every hotel in Rome for a fixed price of €39.00 for two passengers, there is a cost of €10.00 for each extra passenger. Take care to agree on a clear price when using a private taxi! A ride to the center of Rome is not cheap and costs approximately €70.00.

Airport Parking

Parking garages A, B, C, D and E are close by the terminal, the price is €1.50 per 30 minutes, after the first six hours it costs €1.00 per hour and €28.00 per day. Long-term parking is also possible in the new parking garage E for a minimum of a week and costs €70.00 and then €9.00 per day thereafter.

Cheaper long-term parking can be found at the open-air parking area along the highway, the first week costs €69.00 then €6.00 per day. There is a free shuttle bus to the terminals.
