Local transport

Train

There's no train connection with East Midlands Airport. The nearest train station is East Midlands Parkway at more than 6 kilometers. There used to be a shuttle service to this station, but it has been cancelled.

There are plans though to have the high-speed train (under construction) from London Euston to the north of England run via the airport.

Car and bus

East Midlands Airport is situated between Derby, Leicester and Nottingham. The airport is easily accessible by rental car thanks to the proximity of freeways M1 and M42. From Nottingham you drive via the A52 to the M1. The way to the airport is well indicated on all roads.

There are several bus connections with places in the vicinity. The company Skylink runs to and from Leicester, Nottingham, Derby, Loughborough and Coalville.

Car rental East Midlands Airport

There are counters of car rental companies in the Arrivals Hall. Six rental companies are present at East Midlands Airport: Avis, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz and National/Alamo. You can also book a rental car in advance by using the service provided by EasyTerra; they compare the rates of several providers in a single quote.

Taxi

Checker Cars taxis, the only taxi company allowed at the airport, can be found outside the Arrivals Hall. A ride to Derby or Nottingham costs about £30.00, to Leicester a bit more.

Airport Parking

In the short-term parking garage you pay £2.20 for the first half hour and then £4.00 per hour. On the long-term parking lot the rates are £27.00 for the first day, £13.00 for the second day and thereafter £10.00 per day. For online bookings, make sure to check out Airport Parking Directory or Airport Parking Shop.
