Tirana International Airport
The airport of the Albanian capital is officially called Tirana International Airport Nënë Tereza, after Mother Teresa who was Albanian by birth. Locally it's better known as Rinas Airport, after the village where it's located.
The new passenger terminal of the airport was opened in 2007 and further expanded in 2009. It's a modern airport with excellent facilities.

There's no train connection with Tirana Airport.
Car and bus
Tirana Airport is situated 17 kilometers northwest of the Albanian capital. The airport can be reached by rental car via the new freeway Tirana - Durres.
From six o'clock in the morning until six o'clock at night the Rinas Express Bus runs every hour from the airport to the National Museum in the center of Tirana. A bus ticket costs 250 lek.
Car rental Tirana Airport
You can find counters of car rental companies near the exit of the Arrivals Hall. Four international rental companies are present at Tirana Airport: Avis, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt.
Taxis can be found outside the Arrivals Hall. Some have a meter, but this doesn't mean the driver is going to use it. Make sure to agree on a price before you get in. A taxi ride to Tirana's center costs between 2,000 and 2,500 lek (the Albanian currency), and takes about half an hour. The official ATEX taxis (Tel. +355(0)68 204 598) are grey with a red logo.
There's a parking garage (P1) next to the terminal. You pay 150 lek for the first hour, and then 120 lek per hour. Next to the garage lies a long-term parking lot (P2). Here you pay 300 lek per day.
With the construction of the new terminal a new luxury hotel was added to the airport, the Airport Tirana Hotel (Tel. +355(0)4 8300 190). Other hotels are concentrated in the capital, including Tirana International Hotel (Tel. +355(0)4 223 4185), Rogner Hotel Europapark (Tel. +355(0)4 223 5035), City Hotel Tirana (Tel. +355(0)4 224 7799) and the Sheraton Tirana (Tel. +355(0)4 227 4707). Shops and restaurants
Tirana International Airport offers a good number of restaurants, cafés, (snack) bars and coffee shops. Shopping facilities are limited; there's however a large duty-free shop.
You cannot store your baggage at Tirana Airport. There's a lost-and-found counter (Tel. +355(0)4 2381 753) in the Arrivals Hall.
There are several information desks scattered around the terminal for inquiries about Tirana Airport, flight schedules and airport services.
Apart from refreshments and snacks, the Business Lounge (Tel. +355(0)4 2381 569) in the Departure Hall offers basic facilities like faxing, copying and computers with internet access. Extensive business facilities are offered by the business hotels in Tirana (see Hotels). Hotel Rogner is connected with the conference center Europapark.
Tirana Airport has excellent accessibility for the disabled. There are wheelchair ramps, adapted elevators and toilets, and also low-hanging telephones.
You'll find banks, exchange offices and ATM's scattered around the terminal. In the entire terminal you also have free access to wireless internet (Wi-Fi) and there are some internet kiosks. There's one smoking room, next to the Segafredo coffee shop.
