Seoul Gimpo International Airport
Gimpo Airport was the only airport of the South Korean capital until Incheon Airport was opened in 2001. Gimpo is now mainly used for domestic flights, but there are also some international flights, mainly to Japan and Hong Kong. The international terminal is called Sky City.
IATA airport code: GMP
ICAO airport code: RKSS
Subway line 5 has a stop at the airport. There's also a train station. More information about rail connections can be found on the websites of Seoul Metropolitan Subway Corporation and Seoul Metropolitan Rapid Transit Corporation.
Car and bus
Gimpo Airport is situated at short distance from Seoul's center, in the western suburbs of the city. The airport is easily accessible by rental car via the ring road around the center (road number 100). The exit to the airport is clearly signposted.
Because the airport practically lies in the city, many city buses stop at the airport. Apart from buses to the city center, there are also buses to Seoul's larger airport, Incheon Airport. More information about public transport can be obtained via telephone number +82(0)2 2660 2305.
Car rental Airport
You can find a counter of car rental companies in the domestic terminal. Four rental companies are present at Seoul Gimpo Airport, two international ones and two local providers: Avis, Hertz, Jeju and Sambo.
Taxis can be found outside the Arrivals Hall. There are normal and luxury taxis. For the normal taxis the starting rate is 1,900 won and you pay 100 won per 144 meters. The luxury taxis start at a rate of 4,500 won and you add to that 200 won per 164 meters.
There's a large parking lot just outside the terminal. For the first five hours you pay 500 won per 30 minutes, and after that 500 won per 15 minutes. A full day costs 10,000 won. Note: if you park more than a day, the rate of 500 won per 15 minutes applies again!
There are no hotels at Seoul Gimpo Airport. The nearest hotel is the Mayfield Hotel (Tel. +82(0)2 2660 9000) at only a five-minute ride from the airport. Simpler, but also cheaper is the Mate Tourist Hotel (Tel. +82(0)2 2605 1700). Other hotels are mainly found in the city center, including the Grand Hilton Seoul (Tel. +82(0)2 3216 5656) and the Grand Hyatt Seoul (Tel. +82(0)2 797 1234). For more hotels and to book online, you can go to Booking.com. They offer a large range of hotels, at competitive internet rates.
Shops and restaurants
Seoul Gimpo Airport offers a reasonable number of restaurants, cafés, (snack) bars and shops. These include the fish restaurant Sky Onn, Burger King, Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks and a 7-eleven mini-supermarket.
On the ground floor you can find baggage lockers and a counter to deposit your baggage, which can be reached by telephone at +82(0)2 2665 4885. Here you can also inquire about lost objects.

On the top floor (4F) there's a Convention Center (Tel. +82(0)2 2064 7777) where you can rent meeting and conference rooms. There's also a VIP Room (Tel. +82(0)2 2660 2402). More business facilities (including meeting rooms) are offered by the Mayfield Hotel and the business hotels in the center of Seoul (see Hotels).
Seoul Gimpo Airport has excellent accessibility for the disabled. There are wheelchair ramps, automatic doors, adapted elevators and toilets, and also low-hanging telephones. Information is also available in Braille and parking places have been reserved for disabled travelers right in front of the terminal.
In the domestic terminal you can find branches of three banks (Chohung Bank, Korea Exchange Bank and Shinhan Bank). The latter can also be found in the international terminal and here you'll also find a exchange office. There are also some ATM's. Near the information center there are computers with internet access, which can be used for free. And if you have a long layover: Gimpo Airport has a cinema.
