Local transport

Train

The Airport Express van MTR Corporation (tel: +852(0)2 881 8888) departs from the Ground Transportation Center to the center of Hong Kong. The journey takes approximately 25 minutes and these trains also stop in Kowloon station.

Car and bus

The airport is located 34 kilometers to the northwest of Hong Kong Island. From the center of the city, you can reach the airport via the Western Harbor Tunnel and then the West Kowloon Expressway, follow the signs to the airport (clearly indicated). After the Tsing Ma Bridge, follow the North Lantau highway to the entrance of the airport.

From the Ground Transportation Center, many buses depart to various destinations, including to the North Point Ferry Pier, Hung Hom station and Lam Tin station. These bus lines are operated by three companies: Citybus (tel: +852(0)2 873 0818), Long Win (tel: +852(0)2 261 2791) and New Lantao (tel: +852(0)2 984 9848).

In addition, there are various bus lines to different destinations in the Chinese province of Guangdong, they depart from the Coach Station in Terminal 2. You need to have a Chinese visa to be able to travel from Hong Kong to China.

If you travel to a destination in the Pearl River delta, you can take a SkyPier ferry(tel: +852(0)2 215 3232). They travel to six destinations (Humen in DongGuan, Macau, Zhuhai Jiuzhou, Zhongshan, Shenzhen Fuyong and Shenzhen Shekou). Tickets can be bought at the desk in the Arrivals Hall and a shuttle takes you to the departure point.

Car rental - Hong Kong International Airport

There are few visitors who drive themselves in the hectic Hong Kong traffic. In the Arrivals Hall, there are only desks of rental companies that provide chauffeur-driven cars, Intercontinental Hire Cars (tel: +852(0)2 261 2155) and Parklane Limousine Service (tel: +852(0)2 261 0303).

Taxi

There are also taxis at the Ground Transportation Center. Bear in mind, the taxis have different colors, depending on their destination. Red taxis drive to virtually every destination in Hong Kong, with the exception of Lantau Island, green taxis drive to the New Territories, except those parts that are serviced by the red taxis, and blue taxis drive to places in Lantau Island. A taxi ride to the center of Hong Kong costs approximately 350-400 dollars.

Airport Parking

Hong Kong Airport has two parking areas (P1 short-term parking, P2 short-term and long-term parking) and a car park (P4). The P3 area for long-term parking is temporarily closed. Parking areas P1 and P2 are located near terminals 1 and 2 respectively, the rates are 16.00 dollars per hour and 112.00 dollars per day.
