Miami International Airport (MIA)
Miami Airport was recently completely renovated. There are Piers A, C and D (B was torn down) joined together to the North Terminal and Piers G, H and J to the South Terminal. Between them is a central area with Piers E and F, where all companies are established that do not belong to the Star Alliance, SkyTeam Alliance or Oneworld.
There is no direct train connection. The MetroBus goes to the Tri-Rail-station Miami Airport that is directly east of the terminal. These trains go to Broward and Palm Beach. If you have a ticket for the Tri-Rail system, transportation between the airport and the station is free. For further information you can call 1-800-TRI-RAIL (only in Florida).
Car and bus
The airport is 14 kilometers northwest of Miami. From the center of the city you follow Interstate 95 to the north and you take exit NW 42nd Avenue (LeJeune Road). The route to the airport is clearly indicated.
From the bus station on the ground level (Level 1) of Hall E the SuperShuttle bus (tel: 305 871 2000) leaves to several destinations in Miami. Regular city buses (MetroBus) and regional buses also leave from here. City bus line 7 goes to the center of Miami, line 37 to Hialeah and Miami South and line 42 to Golden Glades, Opa Locka and Coconut Grove.

Car rental - Miami International Airport
In the Baggage Hall there are counters from many car rental companies, including: Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Payless, Royal Rent A Car and Thrifty. You can also reserve a rental car in advance using the service EasyTerra provides, they compare the rates of several providers in a single quote.
There are many taxis outside the Arrivals Hall (tel: +1(0)305 444 4444). For an indication of the rates: to South Beach $30.00-35.00, to Bal Harbor, Surfside and Indian Creek Village $38.00 and to North Miami Beach, Aventura, Golden Beach and Sunny Isles $46.00.
There are two garages for long-term parking, both with direct entrance to the terminal: Dolphin Garage (North Terminal) and Flamingo Garage (South Terminal). Rates: first two hours $4.00 per hour, then $2.00 per hour with a maximum of $12.00 per day. Close to Hall E is an area for short-term parking, there you pay $2.50 per 30 minutes with a maximum of $25.00 per day.
In Hall E (Level 2) there is the Miami International Airport Hotel (tel: +1(0)305 871 4100). In the vicinity of the airport there are many hotels, including: Best Western Airport Inn (tel: +1(0)305 463 7195), Courtyard by Marriott (tel: +1(0)305 642 8200), Crowne Plaza Miami Airport (tel: +1(0)305 446 9000), Hilton Miami Airport & Towers (tel: +1(0)305 262 1000) and Sleep Inn Miami Airport (tel: +1(0)305 871 7553).
In the Baggage Hall there is a counter for reserving hotel rooms. For more hotels and to reserve online you can go to Booking.com, they have a large range of hotels with great internet rates.
Shops and restaurants
Miami International Airport is a large airport with a large and diverse range of shops, restaurants and drinking places. You can find most of them in the central area (Halls E and F). On the top level of the Miami International Airport Hotel is a restaurant called Top of the Port, where you have a beautiful view over the airport and the arrival and departure of airplanes.
On the first level (Level 2) of Hall E is a counter for lost and found items (tel: +1(0)305 876-7377). You can also find facilities to store baggage there (tel: +1(0)305 869 1163).
On the first level (Level 2) of Hall E, there is a Tourist Information Center (tel: +1(0)305 876 7000). In addition there are various information offices spread throughout the terminal that are staffed by volunteers under the confusing name of VIP (Volunteer Information Program).
Several airlines have lounges where you can use facilities such as telephone, fax and internet. The Executive Conference Center can be found in the Miami International Airport Hotel (see Hotels), besides meeting rooms, for a maximum of 12 people, there is a conference hall for a maximum of 200 people.
The airport is accessible for the disabled. Most restrooms and elevators are accessible for wheelchairs and text telephones are set up at several places in the terminal. On Level 3 of the garages, there are parking places for the disabled.
There are banks, money exchange offices and ATM's. In Hall B (Level 4) you can find a complete bank service from Bank of America and a post office. There is also a silence center. Other services are especially concentrated in the central area, including a hairdresser, a pharmacy, shoe shiners and an art gallery.
