Brindisi Airport (BDS)

The Brindisi Airport, or ‘Papola Casale’, is three kilometers north of this Italian seaport town. Together with Bari Airport this airport processes most of the passengers in Apulia (Puglia) in southern Italy. The Brindisi Airport is a division of Aeroporti di Puglia. In addition to Bari, the airports of Foggia and Taranto also belong to Aeroporti di Puglia.

Local transport

Train

There is no train connection with the airport. A bus goes to the centre of Brindisi. Trains go to places such as Lecce and Bari from the train station at the Via Bastioni Carlo V.

Car and bus

The airport is right by Brindisi, along the SS16/SS379. The route to the city is clearly indicated. Lecce lies further to the south: from Brindisi follow the SS613 (45 kilometers, travel time approximately 40 minutes).

A local bus goes between the airport and the city centre of Brindisi in connection with arriving and departing flights. The travel time is about 30 minutes, and a ticket costs € 3.00.

Furthermore, a regular bus goes to Lecce (travel time about 45 minutes).

Taxi

Taxis are outside the Arrivals Hall (tel: +39(0)831 597901). Pay attention that the driver starts the meter or agrees to a clear agreement about the price before you get in.

Airport Parking

There is a parking place right in front of the terminal. There are various areas for short term and long term parking. Price: up to 2 hours € 1.80, to 8 hours € 4.70, to 24 hours € 10.00; then up to the third day € 10.00 per day, from the fourth to the seventh day € 8.00 per day and then € 4.80 per day.

There are no hotels at the airport, but the airport is a short distance from Brindisi where there are various hotels. Not far from the airport is the Rama Hotel Minerva (tel: +39(0)831 555797). Shops and restaurants

The offering of shops and drinking and dining places is limited. There are two bars and a restaurant. In addition there are vending machines with cold and warm drinks and snacks.

Besides a few basic services (fax, telephone) at the service counter there are no business facilities.

Handicapped persons

The airport is reasonably accessible for handicapped persons. There are wheelchair ramps and there is an adapted restroom. Assistance is available through the service counter.
