Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL)
The Kuala Lumpur Airport is 55 kilometers south of the Malaysian capital. It is a very modern airport with two terminals (Main Terminal and Satellite Terminal) that are connected by an automatic train. In addition there is a separate terminal for budget airlines (Low Cost Carriers, LCC-terminal).
Kuala Lumpur Airport is an important link in Asian air traffic. In the coming years the airport will be substantially expanded with a new runway and a new terminal.
Prices are given here in the Malaysian currency, the ringgit (RM). € 1.00 = RM 4.57 (January 2007).
Local transport
Train
There are two train connections between the airport and Kuala Lumpur: the express train KLIA Ekspres (with check-in facilities in the station in Kuala Lumpur) and KLIA Transit that follows the same route but makes stops at several stations.
Car and bus
The airport is along the motorway from the Malaysian capital to the south (North-South Central Link Expressway, travel time to/from Kuala Lumpur: about one hour). This is a toll road. An alternative is the motorway between Kuala Lumpur and Seremban. The routes to Kuala Lumpur and to the airport are clearly indicated.
There is a large bus station on the ground level of the parking garage (Section C). Busses leave from there to Kuala Lumpur and several other destinations in Malaysia.
Car rental Kuala Lumpur International Airport
In the Arrivals Hall you can find counters for the car rental companies Avis, Budget, Hertz, National and Thrifty. You can also reserve a rental car in advance using the service EasyTerra provides. They compare the rates of several providers in a single quote.
Taxi
In the Arrivals Hall there is a window where you can purchase a ticket for a taxi. The fixed price to Kuala Lumpur comes to RM 60.00. Do not discuss offers with illegal taxi drivers!
Airport Parking
In the garage for short term parking there is a direct connection with the terminal. This garage is subdivided in four sections (A, B, C and D). In section B and C you pay for the first hour RM 3.50, for the second hour RM 3.00, for the third hour RM 2.50 and then RM 2.00 per hour. By the terminal for budget airlines there is a parking area where the rates are not much lower, except for the first two hours parking (RM 1.00 per hour).

Hotels
Three are two hotels at the airport: the KLIA Pan Pacific Hotel (tel: +60(0)3 8787 3333) and the Airside Transit Hotel (e-mail, tel: +60(0)3 8787 4848) that is established in the Satellite Terminal, by Gate C5. Hotels in the area of the airport include the Concorde Inn Hotel (tel: +60(0)3 8783 1118) and Empress Hotel (tel: +60(0)3 8706 7777). For more hotels and reserving online you can go to Booking.com. Shops and restaurants
There are many shops, snack bars, fast food chains and restaurants to be found in both terminals. This is not the case in the terminal for budget airlines (LCC-terminal). There is a limited offering there.
Baggage
For lost and found items you can turn to the airport police (tel: +60(0)3 8787 2222). There are safes in the Sattellite Terminal for storing baggage. You can find these in the area of the E-Center, by elevator 2. The price is RM 5.00 per two hours.
Information
There are several service counters in both terminals. Furthermore, there are several staff members walking around and are recognizable in bright green jackets. There are also many computers where you inquire about information about the airport, public transportation and places of interest in Malaysia. It is in the Baggage Hall of the Main Terminal.
Business
The Plaza Business Center (tel: +60(0)3 8787 2323) is in the Satellite Terminal. There are extensive services: telephone, fax, internet, video conference and secretarial support. You can make reservations for the Plaza Premium Lounge online or via tel: +60(0)3 8787 2323).

Handicapped persons
The airport is excellently accessible for handicapped persons. There are wheelchair ramps and adapted elevators, restrooms and telephones. There are places reserved for handicapped travelers on the second level of the parking garage. For more information and assistance you can turn to one of the service counters.
Other services
There are banks, money exchange offices and a large number of cash machines. Furthermore, Kuala Lumpur has an excellent E-Center with fast internet connection, web cams, telephones, fax and also facilities for video conferences. Wireless internet is available in both terminals. A complete fitness centre can be found in the Airside Transit Hotel. There are two First Aid posts: on the third level of the Main Terminal (tel: +60(0)3 8776 6712), and in the C-Section (gates C21-C37) from the Satellite Terminal (tel: +60(0)3 8776 2243).
