To rent a car, you must be at least 20 years old (age may vary by car category) and have held your license for 2 years. Drivers under the age of 25 may incur a young driver surcharge.

The speed limits are: on highways 68mph/110kph, on open roads 55mph/90kph and in the city 31/mph/50kph. Headlights and seatbelts are mandatory and children up to age 7 must wear an age appropriate restraint.

Distances in Sweden are shown in kilometers although people in Sweden often refer to the 'mil', or Norwegian mile. Beware, this is not 1.6 km but 10 km!

Driving in Sweden with a rental car
