The scenery differs considerably in the north and south of Serbia. In the north you will find lush (and green) farmland and acres, the south is hilly and has some lovely forests.

Serbia has 5 national parks, which include ski resorts and vast forests. A popular ski resort is Kopaonik near the city of Brus (166 km from Belgrade). Many tourists visit the Tara mountain range, which is a national park with many lakes and forests. Zlatibor is another beautiful mountain region and is close to the Tara mountain region. Zlatibor is a short drive from Belgrade (136 km). If you follow the Danube from Belgrade to the east, you will encounter Kladovo near the Romanian border. This town is known for its archeological sites. The trip will be approximately 200 km and is well worth the visit.

Those who seek cultural delight can enjoy the city of Novi Sad, a city often referred to as the 'Athens of Serbia'. The museums and galleries of Novi Sad emanate a unique atmosphere. Novi Sad is the capital of the Vojvodina province, a place where the remains of Ottoman rulers can still be found. The Medieval castle of Bac is an impressive work of architecture in this province.
