Driving in Norway with a rental car

There are about 56,400 km of roads in Norway and in addition, many ferries to Denmark. Because of this, Denmark becomes an option for a daytrip as well. A striking element in Norwegian culture is the presence of stave churches such as the one in Borgund. It is easy to get to Borgund from Oslo (222 km) but from Trondheim as well (299 km). Naturally one has to visit the fjords and the beautiful scenery as well.

The European Route E10 is one of the largest roads in Norway. Many people use this road to go to Sweden from Norway, for example to Abisko, a place (and national park) in the North of Sweden. It is a substantial journey stretching over 1,000 km although the distance from Trondheim is 666 km.

The E10 runs through Reine as well. This is a small village and tourists come here to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Getting from Oslo to Reine means quite a drive (918 km) although those who come from Tronheim will have an easier journey (538 km). The E10 runs through all of the islands along the trip and this often results in magnificient views. The islands are interconnected by bridges and you will pass through several tunnels along the way.
