Driving on Cyprus with a rental car
Cyprus has an extensive network of roads, covering 11,000 km (of which 7,000 is paved). Landing at Larnaca airport enables you to reach most of the larger cities easily. Larnaca is located conveniently and the capital city Nicosia can be found at 37 km up North. This ancient city, together with cities like Jeruzalem, is one of the last remaining 'divided capitals' of the world.
Another charming city is Limasol, an important harbour town on the South of Cyprus. The city is situated at 60 km from Larnaca and is therefore very easy to reach.
The most impressive attractions on the island require longer drives, for instance the Roman Ruins of Paphos, at 112 km. The Troodos Mountains are easy to reach and here you will find the famous Kykkos-Monastery. In addition, the Olympus Mountain (1952 metres) can be found here. In the vicinity of the Troodos mountain region the scenery is blessed with lush vegetation and beautiful views. The mountains can be reached within one hour (by car).
