Tenerife South - Reina Sofia Airport (TFS)

Reina Sofia is the largest and busiest airport on Tenerife where many vacation flights arrive and depart. In the north part of the island there is a small airport – Los Rodeos – that is mainly used for flights to other Canary Islands and to the Spanish mainland.

The airport is 60 kilometers southwest of the capital Santa Cruz and 16 kilometers east of Playa de Las Américas. The airport processes nine million passengers per year.

Local transport

Train

There are no trains operating on Tenerife.

Car and bus

The airport is directly along the Autopista del Sur (TF-1) that together with the Autopista del Norte almost forms a ring road. The exit to the airport is clearly indicated.

The stops for five bus lines are in front of the Arrivals Hall: line 340 goes to Puerto de la Cruz, line 341 to Santa Cruz, lines 487 and 470 to Playa de Las Américas and line 464 to Granadilla. Car rental Tenerife South - Reina Sofia Airport

You can find counters in the Central Hall for the car rental companies Autos Reisen, Avis, Cicar, Europcar Betacar, Hertz and Record. You can also reserve a rental car in advance using the service EasyTerra provides. They compare the rates of several providers in a single quote.

Taxi

Taxis are outside the terminal (tel: +34(0)922 64 11 12). For an indication of various destinations: El Medano €10, Playa de Las Américas € 20, Los Gigantes € 42, Santa Cruz € 60 and Puerto de la Cruz € 80.

Airport Parking

There is a parking area right in front of the terminal with places for 800 cars. The first half hour parking is free. For the second half hour you pay € 0.50, then € 0.95 per hour with a maximum of € 9.25 per day (from the fifth day € 7.40 per day).

Hotels

There are no hotels at the airport, but there are many hotels and vacation resorts close to the airport. To name a few: Hotel Tenerife Golf (tel: +34(0)922 738 566), Hotel Ucanca (tel: +34(0)922 390 776), Jacaranda (tel: +34(0)922 712 227) and Mediterranean Palace (tel: +34(0)922 794 400). Shops and restaurants

There is a good offering of shops and eating and drinking places: there are seven snack bars and cafes, seven restaurants and a large number of shops. Be advised: the Canary Islands have a separate status; there are limits on the export of tobacco and alcohol. The prices are significantly lower than on the Spanish mainland.

Baggage

You can go to the general information counter in the Central Hall for lost and found items. You cannot store baggage.

Business

You can find the Montaña Roja VIP lounge (tel: +34(0)922 759 425) on the first level. This lounge can be arranged in several ways for meetings and conferences. There are also facilities such as fax, telephone and computers with internet access.

Handicapped persons

The airport is accessible for handicapped persons. There are wheelchair ramps and adapted restrooms and elevators. There are parking places reserved for handicapped persons right in front of the terminal.

Other services

There is a bank (Caja Canarias, open from 08:30 – 14:00) and there are cash machines. There is also a post office. You can also find a children’s play corner, a pharmacy and a First Aid post in the Central Hall. There is a silence centre on the first level.
