Santiago de Compostela Airport (SCQ)

The Santiago de Compostela Airport is ten kilometers northeast of the city. The airport processed almost two million passengers in 2006. Work is being done quickly in the coming years to expand the terminal facilities.

Local transport

Train

There is no train connection with the airport.

Car and bus

The airport is easily accessible via the N-547. That is the road between Santiago de Compostela and Lugo. The exit to the airport is clearly indicated.

There are three bus lines from the airport. Busses from the company Freire (tel: +43(0)981 588 111) connect the airport with Plaza de Galicia in Santiago via Dr. Texeiro, Avenida de Lugo (train station), the bus station and San Lázaro. Freire also goes to the bus station in Lugo. Autocares Travidi (tel: +43(0)981 257 082) leaves one time per day – at 11:30 – to the Hotel Atlántico in A Coruña.

Car rental Santiago de Compostela Airport

In Arrivals Hall A you can find counters for the car rental companies Avis, Europcar, Atesa and Hertz. You can also reserve a rental car in advance using the service EasyTerra provides. They compare the rates of several providers in a single quote.

Taxi

Taxis are outside the Arrivals Hall. A ride to Santiago de Compostela costs about € 18.00, to A Coruña € 80.00.

Airport Parking

The parking area has places for 1200 cars. The first half hour costs € 0.40, for the second half hour € 0.50 then € 0.95 per hour with a maximum of € 9.25 per day (from the fifth day € 7.40 per day).

Hotels

There are no hotels at the airport. The nearest hotel is Ruta Jacobea (2.5 kilometer, tel: +43(0)981 888 211). For more hotels and reserving online you can go to Booking.com. They have a large offering of hotels with great internet rates.

Shops and restaurants

There is a very modest offering of eating and drinking places: 1 snack bar and 1 restaurant that has a self-service section and a room where you can eat á la carte. Furthermore, there are seven shops.

Baggage

There is a counter for lost and found items on the ground floor of the Departures Hall (tel: +43(0)981 547 571). You cannot store baggage at this airport.

Information

There is a general service counter from Aena, the operator of Spanish airports, in the Central Hall. The personnel are also available through the general number.

Business

There are no business facilities at this airport. Meeting and conference rooms can be found in the hotel Ruta Jacobea (see Hotels).

Handicapped persons

The airport is accessible for handicapped persons. There are wheelchair ramps and adapted restrooms and elevators. There are parking places reserved for handicapped persons right in front of the terminal.

There is a bank in the Central Hall (Caixa de Galicia, tel: +43(0)981 897 131). Moreover, there are several cash machines. There is a First Aid post on the ground floor (tel: +43(0)981 547 565).
