Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI)
The airport of Mallorca, officially called Son Sant Joan, is one of the busiest airports in Spain. In the busiest months of July and August it is the busiest airport in the country. There is one terminal but is subdivided into four halls (A, B, C and D).
Local transport
Train
There is no train connections at the airport. From Palma there are two train services: the customary tour and the tourist tour. A ride with the old wooden train to Puerto de Sóller is a must for most tourists. The usual train rides from Palma to Inca and further to Sa Pobla and Manacor.
Car and bus
The airport is eight kilometers east of Palma de Mallorca. From the city you follow the direction of Santanyí. The exit to the airport is clearly indicated.
Outside the Arrivals Hall (Exit D) is the bus stop. Bus line 1 goes to the center of Palma (Paseo Mallorca) in approximately 30 minute and to Porto Pí. For more information call tel: +34(0)971 431 024.
Car rental Palma de Mallorca Airport
In the Arrivals Hall you can find counters for the car companies Avis, Europcar-Betacar, Centauro, Europa, Hasso, Hertz, Record and TUI Cars-Ultramar Express. You can also reserve a rental car in advance using the service EasyTerra provides. They compare the rates of several providers in a single quote.
Taxi
Taxis are outside Exit D. A ride to Palma de Mallorca is approximately 15 minutes and cost about € 15.00. To other destinations it is advised to make a clear agreement about the price! Indications of other prices: to Santa Ponsa € 32.00, to Alcudia € 53.00 and to Cala Bona € 62.00.
Airport Parking
Close to the terminal there is a parking garage (tel: +34(0)971 787 598) with five levels and room for almost 6000 cars. The ground floor has been reserved for the vehicles from car rental companies. The third floor is connected to the Departures Hall by a bridge, and the top two levels are intended for long term parking.
The costs for short term parking: € 0.85 for the first hour, € 0.65 per hour after that, and the whole day costs € 6.75. Long term parking is € 6.75 per day for the first six days and € 3.20 per day after that.

Hotels
There are no hotels at the airport, but there are many hotels on this tourist island. Hotels in Palma: Melia Victoria (tel: +34(0)971 732 542), Palas Atenea Sol (tel: +34(0)971 281 400) and Saratoga (tel: +34(0)971 727 240). The Arabella Sheraton Golf Hotel (tel: +34(0)971 787 100) is 15 kilometers from the airport. For more hotels and reserving online you can go to Booking.com. Shops and restaurants
The airport has an extensive offering of stores, restaurants, bars and cafés. There are 18 cafés and (snack) bars and nine restaurants with most being fast food restaurants.
In Departures Hall A and C there are large Aldeasa stores (cigarettes, perfumes, wines and liquors).
Baggage
You cannot store baggage at Mallorca Airport. On the ground floor there is a window for lost and found objects (tel: +34(0)971 789 456).
Information
By the check in counters and in the Arrivals Hall there are information kiosks (tel: +34(0)971 789 924). The employees are recognizable in their blue jacket. They also can be found walking around the terminal building.
On the ground floor there is a counter for tourist information (tel: +34(0)971 789 556). Furthermore, you find can find various offices of travel agents in the Arrivals Hall.
Business
There are two VIP Lounges at the airport: on the ground floor in the Departures Hall (Míro, tel: +34(0)971 789 631) and in the Departures D (Formentor, tel: +34(0)971 787 693). Handicapped persons
The airport is completely accessible for handicapped persons. There are adapted elevators, restrooms, telephones and information is also available in Braille. For the use of a wheelchair you can contact your airline. On each floor of the parking garage there are places reserved for handicapped persons.
Other services
In the Departures Hall there is a branch of the La Caixa bank. There are cash machines throughout the airport, and there is also a post office. The pharmacy is open from 07.00 – 21:00. First Aid is available through the general information counter or call tel. +34(0)971 789 292.
