Granada Airport (GRX)

The airport is officially called Federico Garcí¬a Lorca after the Spanish poet, but everyone calls it Granada Airport for short. The airport is 17 kilometers west of Granada and about 100 kilometers south of Jaén.

Local transport

Train

There is no train connection with the airport.

Car and bus

The airport is along highway A-92 (Granada - Sevilla). From Jaén you first take the N-44 to Granada and then the A-92. The exit to the airport is clearly indicated.

There is a bus that goes in connection with incoming flights to the Congrespaleis in the centre of Granada, via La Caleta, Avenida de la Constitución and Gran Ví¬a (tel: +43(0)958 490 164). A ticket costs € 3.00.

Car rental Granada Airport

There are counters from five car rental companies in the Arrivals Hall: Atesa, Avis, Europcar, Hertz and Helle Hollis. You can also reserve a rental car in advance using the service EasyTerra provides. They compare the rates of several providers in a single quote.

Taxi

Taxis are outside of the Arrivals Hall. A ride to the centre of Granada costs about € 17.00 and to the mountains in the Sierra Nevada € 65.00.

Parking
There are places for 450 cars in the parking area in front of the terminal. You pay € 0.40 for the first half hour of parking and € 0.50 for the second half hour. Then it is € 0.95 per hour with a maximum of € 9.25 per day (from the fifth day € 7.40 per day).

There are no hotels at the airport. Shops and restaurants

There is a very limited offering of eating and drinking places: one snack bar and one restaurant. There is one large multi-shop with souvenirs, tobacco, newspapers, magazines, travel items etc.

Baggage

You can store baggage at the airport. The information counter from Iberia (tel: +43(0)958 245 249) is where to go for lost and found items.

Information

There are three information offices in the Central Hall: from airport operator Aena, from airline company Iberia and from the Tourism Bureau (tel: +43(0)958 245 267).

Business

The airport has a VIP Lounge that is available to rent. There are places for a maximum of 30 persons. More information through tel: +43(0)958 245 214.

Handicapped persons

The airport is accessible for handicapped persons. There are wheelchair ramps and there is an adapted restroom. There are 12 places reserved for handicapped travelers in the parking area. There is a folder available at the information counter that has information about facilities for handicapped persons.

There are three cash machines in the Central Hall. There is also a First Aid post (tel: +43(0)958 245 217).
