Malta Airport (MLA)
The Malta international airport is eight kilometers south of the capital Valletta, between the cities Luqa and Gudja. The local population also mostly calls it the Luqa Airport.

Train
There are no trains operating on Malta.
Car and bus
The route to Valletta is clearly indicated on the traffic signs. From the airport follow the first direction to Marsa. Then you are already on your way to Valletta.
Bus line 8 maintains the connection between the airport and the centre of Valletta. This bus leaves regularly from the bus stop in front of the Departures Hall. The travel time to the centre of Valletta is 30 minutes.
Car rental Malta Airport
In the Arrivals Hall you can find the counters for the car rental companies Alamo, Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, National, Sixt and Thrifty. You can also reserve a rental car in advance using the service EasyTerra provides. They compare the rates of several providers in a single quote.
Taxi
In the Arrivals Hall there is a counter where you can purchase tickets for the taxi. There are fixed rates for all destinations on Malta (Euro 13,98 to Valletta).
Airport Parking
There is a parking area directly connected to the terminal building with places for 650 vehicles. The first ten minutes are free, up to three hours parking costs Euro 1,40. There are no hotels at the airport. The nearest hotel is the Golden Tulip Vivaldi Hotel (tel: +356(0)2137 8100). Other options are Le Meridien (tel: +356(0)2311 0000) and Hilton Malta (tel: +356(0)2138 3383).
In the Arrivals Hall there is a counter for hotel information and reservations. For more hotels and reserving online you can go to Booking.com. They have a large offering of hotels with great internet rates.
Shops and restaurants
There is a reasonable offering of stores, snack bars and cafes, but there is no real restaurant at the Malta Airport unless you consider McDonald’s a real restaurant.
Baggage
There is a counter for lost and found items in the Arrivals Hall (tel: +356(0)2369 6063). You can also store baggage at the Malta Airport (tel: +356(0)2369 6012).
Information
The general service counter (tel: +356(0)2124 9600) close to the check in counters is open 24 hours per day. Furthermore there is a window for the Malta Tourist Board (tel: +356(0)2369 6073) in the Arrivals Hall.
Business
There are three lounges: the Gerolamo Cassar lounge in the Arrivals Hall, and the La Valette Lounge and the Europa Lounge (from Air Malta) in the Departures Hall. In all lounges there are facilities present such as fax, telephone and internet.
Extensive business facilities are available in the Golden Tulip Vivaldi Hotel (see Hotels).
Handicapped persons
The airport is very accessible for handicapped persons. There are wheelchair ramps and adapted elevators, restrooms and telephones. In the parking area there are place reserved for handicapped persons. Wheelchairs are available at the service counter.
Other services
There are banks (Bank of Valletta and HSBC), money exchange offices and cash machines. Furthermore, there is a post office (open from 7:00 until 15:00) and computers with internet connection.
