Verona-Villafranca Airport (VRN)

The Verona Airport is officially called Valerio Catullo di Verona Villafranca, but is generally referred to as ‘Verona-Villafranca’. It was originally a military airport, and the western part is still used by the Italian air force. The airport works together with the Brescia-Montichiari airport under the name Aeroporti Sistema del Garda.

Verona processes two million passengers a year. The terminal is not really meant for this amount of people. Count on long wait times in the high season.

Local transport

Train

There is no train connection with the airport. A bus goes to the station in Verona. From that station there are train connections with Brescia, Mantova, Trento and Rovereto. The station is a 20 minute walk from the city centre.

Car and bus

The airport is 12 kilometers southwest of Verona-Centre. From the city you take the ‘Verona Nord’ exit from highway A22 and follow the signs to the airport. The airport is accessible from Brescia via the A4, exit Sommacampagna.

An Aerobus leaves every 20 minutes from the terminal to the Verona Central Station (Porta Nuova). A one way ticket costs € 4.50.

Car rental Verona-Villafranca Airport

In the Arrivals Hall you can find counters for the car rental companies Europcar, Italy by Car, Maggiore, Hertz, Avis, Sixt, Auto Europa, Silver Rent and Easy Car. You can also reserve a rental car in advance using the service EasyTerra provides. They compare the rates of several providers in a single quote.

Taxi

Taxis are outside the Arrivals Hall (tel: +39(0)45 532 666). Make sure that the driver has a permit and the meter is turned on. A ride to the centre of Verona takes about 15 minutes and costs € 15.00 to € 20.00.

Airport Parking

There are four parking areas at Verona Airport: P1 and P2 are for short term parking, P3 and P4 are for long term parking. The prices in parentheses below are for P3 and P4. Up to one hour parking € 4.50 (€ 3.50), up to two hours € 5.50 (€ 4.50), up to three hours € 6.00 (€ 5.00), 24 hours € 12.00 (€ 11.00). Then the price is € 6.00 (€ 5.50) per day; from the fifth day you pay € 4.00 (€ 3.00) per day. Information about parking is available at tel: +39(0)45 809 5815.

Shops and restaurants

Verona is a small airport with a limited offering of shops and snack bars.

When it is busy you must wait a long time for you baggage. There is a window for lost and found items (tel: +39(0)45 809 5715).

There is a general information counter in the Arrivals Hall as well as a window for the Tourism Bureau.

Business

Except for a few basic services (fax, telephone) at the service counter there are no business facilities.

Handicapped persons

The terminal is reasonably accessible for handicapped persons. There are adapted restrooms. You can also ask for assistance at the service counter. There are free parking spaces reserved for handicapped persons next to the terminal.
