Venice Marco Polo Airport

Like most Italian airports this airport is also named after a hero from history, explorer Marco Polo lived in Venice from 1254 to 1324. The distance from the airport to Venice depends on your mode of transport, by land - 12 kilometers, by water - 10 kilometers. The airport handled almost 9 million passengers in 2015.

There is also a second, much smaller airport by Venice in Treviso, 40 kilometers from the city, that is used by budget airlines Transavia and Ryanair.
