Trapani Airport

Trapani 'Vicenzo Florio Airport' is located on the Italian island Sicily's west coast. The Italians also call it Birgi, after its location. It is both a civilian airport and a military airfield. After the arrival of the low-cost airline Ryan Air the airport has grown a lot. It handles about one million passengers annually and this makes it Sicily's third airport.

Local transport

Train

There is no direct train to the airport. The nearest large train station is in Trapani. There are busses to Trapani (see below). For more information, please visit the Italian Railways website.

Car and bus

The airport is located about 15 kilometers south of Trapani Center and about 90 kilometers from Palermo. It is near highway A29 to Palermo. Trapani can be reached via the SP21 or SS115.

There is a bus stop in front of the terminal. There are busses to Trapani, Marsala, Palermo, Mazara del Vallo, Castelvetrano, Erice, Spiacca and Agrigento. Terravision operates a shuttle bus service from the airport to Palermo (EUR 12.00) and other Sicilian locations.

Car rental Trapani Airport

Taxicabs are parked in front of the terminal. A taxi ride to Trapani costs about EUR 30.00.

Parking at the airport

There are two parking areas for short term and long term parking, with a total of 563 parking spaces. Long term parking costs EUR 26.00 for the first 4 days and after that it costs EUR 5.00 extra per day. Short term parking costs EUR 5.00 per 2 hours, EUR 20.00 per 24 hours and 4 days costs EUR 50.00.

There is no hotel at the airport. However, at 5.5 kilometers you can taste the real Italy at an Agriturismo Vultaggio (tel. +39(0)923 864261). The airport doesn't have many shops, restaurants or (snack) bars.
