Palermo Airport (PMO)
The Palermo airport is also known as Punta Raisi Airport or Falcone-Borsellino Airport. The last name refers to two anti-mafia judges who were assassinated in 1992. They are honored with a commemorative plate at the entrance of the Departures Hall with the inscription Giovanni Falcone - Paolo Borsellino - Gli Altri - L'orgoglio della Nuova Sicilia”. The last part means ‘proud of a new Sicily’.
Local transport
Train
A train (Trinacria Express) leaves the airport every hour to the central station in Palermo. Price: € 4.50.
Car and bus
The airport is 32 kilometers west of Palermo along highway A29. Take the exit Cinisi Sud. Of course ‘Aeroporto’ is also indicated on the signs.
Busses from Prestia e Comandè (tel: +39(0)915 804 57) leave every half hour to the centre of Palermo (Piazza Castelnuovo en het Centraal Station). Price: € 4.65.
There are also bus lines to Agrigento, Trapani and Sciacca/Ribera, but they leave less frequently.
Car rental Palermo International Airport
You can find counters for car rental companies in the Arrivals Hall, including Europcar, Avis, Hertz and Autoeuropa. You can also reserve a rental car in advance using the service EasyTerra provides. They compare the rates of several providers in a single quote.
Taxi

Airport Parking

Services
Hotels
There are no hotels at the airport. A few hotels are situated by the airport in Cinisi: Floria Park Hotel (tel: +39(0)918 684 222) and Magaggiari Hotel Resort (tel: +39(0)918 665 351). The coastal city of Trapani is also not far from the airport. There is a larger offering of hotels. For more hotels and reserving online you can go to Booking.com. Shops and restaurants
Palermo Airport has a (limited) shopping area on the second level of the Terminal. You can also find a restaurant there (self-service). There is a snack bar on each level.
Baggage
In the Arrivals Hall there are two different windows for lost and found items, one for Alitalia (tel: +39(0)917 020 208) and one for all other companies (tel: +39(0)917 020 209).
Information
In the Arrivals Hall there is a service kiosk for general airport and flight information as well as hotel reservations.
Business
On the first level of the Terminal there are two VIP Lounges, one for Alitalia passengers and one for passengers of the other airline companies (tel: +39(0)917 020 629).
Handicapped persons
The airport is very accessible for wheelchair users and there are adapted elevators and restrooms. The Sala Amica Lounge (tel: +39(0)917 020 630) has special services for handicapped persons.
Other services
There is a bank (Bank of Sicily, open: 08:30-13:00 and 14:45-19:15) and there are two cash machines in the Arrivals Hall. A post office is open from 08:30 to 18:15, except for Sundays and public holidays. The Red Cross First Aid station is available at tel: +39(0)915 916 47. On the second level of the terminal there is an ecumenical chapel. Babies can be looked after in the Sala Amica Lounge.
