Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP)

Milan has two international airports, Malpensa en Linate. There are shuttle busses going between the two airports. In addition, there is another airport not far from Milan, Bergamo-Orio al Serio, which is used for budget companies.

There are two terminals at Malpensa Airport that are fairly far from each other (T1 Malpensa-West and T2 Malpensa-North). T1 is for regular services and is subdivided in one part for Schengen flights (A) and the other part for flights outside Schengen territory (B). T2 is for charter and budget flights. There is a shuttle bus every 20 minutes between the terminals.

Malpensa has a bad name: flights are frequently delayed and baggage handling does not always go smoothly. The airport processes about 20 million passengers annually.

Local transport

Train

From terminal T1 the Malpensa Express leaves every 30 minutes to station Milano Cadorna. The train stops at some other (metro) stations. Here you can find a map of the Milanese subway.

Car and bus

The airport lies about 50 kilometers from Milan-Centre. From the airport, take the first national road SS-336 until Busto Arsizio. There the road closes and leads on to the A8 (Autostrada A8 Laghi) which brings you to Milan.

Most buses leave from T1. To Milan (Central Station), you can choose from two companies: Malpensa Bus Express (tel: +39(0)2 3391 0794, € 5.50) and Air Pullmann (tel: 39(0)3 3125 8411, € 5.00). For this last service you can order a ticket online. There are also bus lines to Turin, Genoa, Bologna and destinations in southern Switzerland (Lugano and Chiasso).

Car rental Milan Malpensa Airport

You can find the following car rental companies in T1: Auto Europa, Avis, EasyCar, Europcar, Hertz, Maggiore, Sixt, Targa Rent, Thrifty-Italy by Car and Tirreno. You can also reserve a rental car in advance using the service EasyTerra provides. They compare the rates of several providers in a single quote.

Taxi

Taxis can be found at both terminals. A ride to Milan costs approximately € 70.00. You can reserve a taxi at tel: +39(0)3 293 890 448. In T1 A you can find a limousine service (tel: +39(0)331 231 312).

Airport Parking

Parking garage P1 (tel: +39(0)2 5858 1069) is directly connected to T1. Until 6 am parking costs € 9.00, until 12 pm € 18.00 and until 12 am (midnight) € 22.00. Parking spaces near the elevators are reserved for women. There are also 130 extra guarded places for expensive cars (€ 26.00 per day). Parking lot P2 is for long term parking (until four days € 18.00 per day, fifth-eighth day € 70.00, after that € 7.00 per day). The parking place by T2 is developed by SEA Parking (tel: +39(0)2 7486 2591), which gives you the choice of having covered parking or open air parking (€ 17.00 per day for covered, € 5.00 per day for open air). Short term parking costs € 0.80 per 10 minutes.

Hotels

Hotel Villa Malpensa (tel: +39(0)3 3123 0944) is 500 meters from the airport. Slightly further away (1 km) is the First Hotel Malpensa (tel: +39(0)3 3171 7045). Other options nearby are the Ascot Hotel (tel: +39(0)3 3126 2926), Hotel Astoria Gallarate (tel: +39(0)3 3179 1043) and the Airport Motel (tel: +39(0)3 3130 2111). Shops and restaurants

There are many stores, restaurants and (snack) bars that can be found in both terminals. The prices are fairly high, even in the duty-free shops.

Baggage

Baggage safes are available in Arrivals Hall B of T1 (tel: +39(0)2 5858 0298). It costs € 3.50 to € 4.00 per suitcase. Here you can also hire a porter. For lost and found items you can call tel: +39(0)2 7486 8331 or inquire online.

Information

In all terminals you can find service counters where you can get information about the airport and flight schedules. Many travelers complain about the unfriendliness of the personnel at these counters. In Arrivals Hall B of T1 you can find the Welcome Desk Milano (tel: +39(0)2 5858 0080). Here you can get tourist information, book hotel rooms, and arrange a car with driver.

Business

In T1 is the Fly Business Center (tel: +39(0)2 5858 1199) established. It offers extensive services: office and meeting rooms, cars with drivers, secretarial support, translating services and catering. In addition, there is a Business Information Place (tel: +39(0)2 5858 0380) from the Chamber of Commerce.
There are various lounges that are exclusively accessible for holder of the SEA club card (€ 700 per year excl. btw, tel: +39(0)2 7486 2380).
Station Milano Fiera (for the conference and exhibition center of Milan) is accessible with the Malpena Bus Express (see above).

Handicapped persons

The De Sala Amica on the second floor in T1 has accessible toilets and telephones for the hearing impaired. From this lounge you can connect with parking garage P1 where there are reserved parking spaces for handicapped persons. Other services
