Lamezia Terme Airport (SUF)

The airport lies in southern Italy, in the ‘point of the boot’. Because of the central location of Lamezia Terme, it is the transportation hub of Calabria. Lamezia is 35 km from Catanzaro, 70 km from Cosenza and 135 km from Reggio Calabria.

Local transport

Train

The airport is 2 km from the train station in Sant’Eufemia. The trains only go on week days and rather irregularly to Catanzaro, Cosenza and Vibo Valentia.

Car and bus

From Reggio Calabria and Cosenza the airport is accessible via the highway (Autostrada) A3 (to Salerno), exit Lamezia. From Catanzaro and Crotone you follow the SS280 in the direction of Lamezia Terme. From Vibo Valentia you follow the SS19 in the direction of Lamezia Terme.

A bus goes regularly from the airport to Crotone (tel: +39(0)962 21709). The travel time is almost two hours. Cosenza is also accessible by bus with a travel time of an hour. Furthermore, there is a bus line to Catanzaro with a travel time of approximately 40 minutes.

Airport Parking

Right in front of the terminal there is a parking area with a capacity for 850 vehicles. Up to two hours parking costs € 1.60, up to six hours € 2.60, up to 12 hours € 5.20, a full day € 9.30. Up to seven days of parking costs € 26.00 then € 3.00 per day after that. There are two free parking areas that are a bit further from the airport. There are no hotels at the airport. The nearest hotels are the Hotel Lamezia (tel: +39(0)968 53021) across from the station and the modest Piccolo Hotel (tel: +39(0)968 411212). Shops and restaurants

There is a very modest number of restaurants and bars: a few bars and one self service restaurant. The number of shops is also limited: a duty free shop, a few souvenir shops and a kiosk for papers, magazines and tobacco products.
