Bologna Airport (BLQ)

Bologna Airport is officially called Aeroporto Guglielmo Marconi, after the Italian inventor of the radio who was born in Bologna. There are two terminals (A and B) which are within walking distance of each other.

Local transport

Train

There is no train connection with the airport, but there are busses that go to the station in Bologna. It is an important station in the Italian railway network with excellent connections.

Car and bus

The airport is six kilometers outside of Bologna. From the exit you take exit 4 of the ring road (Tangenziale). From elsewhere in Italy the airport is accessible from the A14 (exit Bologna-San Lazzaro, then the Tangenziale exit 4), from the A13 (exit Bologna-Arcoveggio, then the Tangenziale exit 4) and from the A1 (exit Bologna-Casalecchio, then the Tangenziale exit 4).

The Aerobus (tel: +39(0)51 290290) brings you to the centre of Bologna (train station) in 20 minutes. A bus ticket costs € 4.50.

Every two hours (between 06:15 and 22:30) a direct bus (tel: +39(0)59 236530) leaves for Modena. Travel time is approximately 50 minutes.

Furthermore, there is a direct bus connection with Siena. Travel time is approximately 2.5 hours.

Car rental Bologna Airport

You can rent a car from the following car rental companies which can be found in the Arrivals Hall: Avis, Hertz, Europcar, Maggiore, Sixt, Intercar, Thrifty and Autovia. Taxi

Taxis are outside the Arrivals Hall. There are two taxi companies that are allowed at the airport: COTABO (tel: +39(0)51 372727) and CAT (tel: +39(0)51 534141).

Airport Parking

On the ground floor of the terminal you can find parking garage P1. Next to the terminal is P2. Both are intended for short term parking (first hour € 2.60, per 24 hours € 12.00). The parking area P3 is partially covered and costs € 12.80 per day for the first 4 days, then € 6.00 per day after that. Services

Hotels

There are no hotels at the airport, but the Sheraton (tel: +39(0)51 641 5104) is right next to it. A shuttle bus goes from 05:30 to 24:00 to this hotel from the terminal. The SavHotel (tel: +39(0)51 361361) is close to the Bologna exhibitions and conference centre. Both hotels offer extensive facilities for meetings. Shops and restaurants

Bologna Airport has a considerable amount of restaurants, bars and shops in both terminals. A few stores are specialized in local products, and there is a duty-free shop in both terminals. In addition there is a restaurant in the terminal right by parking area P3 at the Via Triumvirato.

Baggage

There are two baggage handlers at Bologna Airport: BAS (tel: +39(0)51 6479443) and Marconi Handling (tel: +39(0)51 6479647). The company you must go to depends on which airline you fly with. There is a counter for lost and found items in the Arrivals Hall.

There are general information counters (tel: +39(0)51 6479615) in the Departures Hall of Terminals A and B.

Furthermore, there are information points from BolognaFiere (exhibitions) and BolognaCongressi (conferences).

Business

The Marconi Business Lounge (tel: +39(0)51 6479616) is only accessible for Marconi Clubpas holders or by special invitation. There are computers, telephone and fax. You can reserve various sized meeting rooms (max. 99 persons). You can also book online.

Handicapped persons

The airport is excellently accessible for handicapped persons. There are adapted restrooms, elevators and telephones. At the terminal entrance there is a special telephone that you can used to request assistance. On the first level of the Departures Hall you can purchase last-minute tickets. Moreover, the airport has an extensive offering of businesses: banks, money exchange offices, cash machines, a post office and a First Aid post.
