Alghero Airport (AHO)

Alghero is in the northwest of Sardinia. The airport is used especially by the budget airline Ryanair, other airlines fly out of Olbia Airport in the northeast part of the island. Alghero Airport is also called Fertilia Airport.

Local transport

Train

There is no train connection with the airport, but there are buses to take you to the train station in Alghero, trains leave from the station to various places in Sardinia, including Olbia, Sassari and Cagliari.

Car and bus

The airport is 12 kilometers north of Alghero along the SP44 and 26 kilometers southwest of Sassari. From Sassari you take the SS291 to the intersection ‘Strada dei Due Mari’, from there you go left in the direction of Alghero. The exit to the airport is clearly indicated.

After the arrival of a flight, a shuttle bus goes to Via Cagliari in Alghero. Two hours before the departure of a flight, the bus leaves from Alghero. Ryanair has their own shuttle bus to Cagliari.

At the souvenir shop in the Arrivals Hall you can purchase tickets for local buses that leave from a stop approximately 100 meters from the terminal exit.

Car rental - Alghero Airport

In the Arrivals Hall there are counters for car rental companies: Autonoleggio Pinna, Avis, Europcar, Hertz, Maggiore, Ruvioli, Sardinya and Thrifty. You can also reserve a rental car in advance using the service EasyTerra provides, they compare the rates of several providers in a single quote.

Taxi

Taxis (tel: +39(0)79 935035) are in front of the Arrivals Hall. Alghero is right by the airport and a taxi to Piazza della Mercede in the center of the city should not cost more than €15.00.

Airport Parking

There are two parking areas: Area A is for up to 6 hours parking and costs €3.00 and Area G, for up to 2 hours parking costs €2.00 and for up to 4 hours costs €3.00. For information about parking (tel: +39(0)79 935011).

Services

Hotels

There are no hotels at the airport, but in Alghero and Sassari there is a large range of hotels, most hotels are along the beaches. For more hotels and to reserve online you can go to Booking.com, they have a large range of hotels with great internet rates.

Shops and restaurants

There are a few stores at the airport, but there is a limited range. There are local products to buy, but you can purchase them cheaper elsewhere in Sardinia, furthermore there are a few bars.

Baggage

You cannot store baggage at the airport. For lost and found items you can go to the general information counter (tel: +39 079 935282).

Information

Besides a general information counter there is also a tourist kiosk in the Arrivals Hall (tel: +39 079 935124) where you can get information about tourist sights, accommodation and transportation in Sardinia.

Business

Alghero Airport has one modest meeting room, information is available through the general information number.

Disabled facilities

The airport is very accessible for the disabled, including information in Braille and adapted restrooms and elevators. You can also request assistance through the general information counter. There are parking places reserved for the disabled. If you would like to use a wheelchair, it is best to arrange it with your airline company.

In the Arrivals Hall there are ATM's from Banco di Sardegna and a post office (tel: +39(0)79 936045) where you can also have goods packed up, Siba Baggage Packaging (tel: +39(0)95 223638). For First Aid you can go to the general information counter or (tel: +39(0)79 935221).
