Leeds Bradford International Airport (LBA)

Leeds Bradford Airport is a joint venture from these two cities in West Yorkshire. In 2007 the airport was privatized. It is a fairly small airport, but the number of passengers has grown considerably in the last years. Therefore, the terminal building is somewhat tight.

Local transport

Train

There is no train connection with the airport, but there are plans to realize this by making a division in the railway between Leeds and York (Harrogate Line).

Car and bus

The airport is 18 kilometers northwest of Leeds and 11 kilometers north of Bradford. From Leeds you follow the signs to Yeadon and Otley on the A660. From Bradford the airport is accessible from the A658 (direction Yeadon).

There are various bus lines that go from the airport to destinations in the surrounding area. Line 737 goes to Bradford, through Shipley, Guiseley and Yeadon. Line 747 leaves every half hour to Bradford through Greengates, Apperley Bridge and Yeadon. The Airlink 757 connects the airport with Leeds (train station, bus station) and Otley. Line 767 goes every one and a half hours to Harrogate and Knaresborough. A direct bus connection with York came in March 2007.

Car rental Leeds Bradford Airport

In the Arrivals Hall there are counters from the car rental companies Avis, Hertz and Europcar. You can also reserve a rental car in advance using the service EasyTerra provides. They compare the rates of several providers in a single quote.

Taxi

There are three taxi companies that are allowed to transport from the airport: Streamline (tel: +44(0)113 244 3322), Telecabs (tel: +44(0)113 279 2222) and City Cabs (tel: +44(0)113 246 9999). A ride to Leeds costs about £ 15.00 and £ 13.00 to Bradford.

Airport Parking

There is a large parking area at the airport. Short term parking costs £ 2.00 for the first half hour and £ 5.50 for two hours. Long term parking costs £ 46.00 for a week and £ 5.00 per day after that.

The Sentinel Security Car Park (tel: +44(0)113 239 1555) is outside the airport. Please be advised: you cannot pick up or drop off passengers in front of the terminal building. To do that you must park in the Express Car Park (about £ 1.00 per 15 minutes). Hotels

The Chevin Lodge Country Park Hotel (tel: +44(0)1943 467 818) is a short distance from the airport (3 km). Ramada Leeds Parkway (tel: +44(0)113 269 9000) is a little further away along the A660. Premier Travel Inn (tel: +44(0)8701 977 153) is two kilometers south of the airport along the A658. Across from the airport there is the modest Travelodge Hotel (tel: +44(0)870 191 1775). Shops and restaurants

This small airport has a limited offering of shops and restaurants. Improvement of this may come with privatization (see introduction).

The general information service counter in the Central Hall can also give you information about tourist sights, public transportation and hotels.

Business

Meeting facilities are available in the Board Room in the Arrivals Hall. There are rooms for maximum 150 persons (tel: +44(0)113 250 9696). The Servisair Executive Lounge (tel: +44(0)870 787 6877) is accessible for everyone who pays a £ 14.00 charge (only with credit card by booking online £ 12.00). There are connection points for your laptop, and there is also wireless internet.

Handicapped persons

The airport is very accessible for handicapped persons. There are wheelchair ramps and adapted elevators, restrooms and telephones. There are places reserved in the short term parking area for handicapped persons. There is also an induction loop for hearing impaired persons.

Other services

There are three money exchange offices (Travelex) and many cash machines. Baby rooms are available (information through the service counter), and there is also a children’s play corner in the Departures Hall. There is wireless internet. The general information counter also functions as the contact point for First Aid.
