Pau Pyrénées Airport (PUF)

The Pau Pyrénées Airport is ten kilometers north of Pau in the southwest of France. It has experienced a considerable growth after the arrival of budget airlines Ryanair and Transavia. Air France maintains connections including Paris-Orly and Lyon.

In addition to nature and winter sports around Pau (Pyrenees) the airport is also the entrance place for pilgrims to Lourdes.

Local transport

Train

There is no train connection with the airport, but there is a shuttle bus to the train station in Pau. From there trains leave to Bayonne and Biarritz in the west, and Lourdes, Tarbes and Toulouse in the east. There are also regular train services to Bordeaux and Paris.

Car and bus

The airport lies along the D716, that connects to the highway from Bayonne to Toulouse (A64-E80), the auto route Pyrénéenne. For Pau you take the exit from the airport to the right, and you go left for the direction of Bordeaux.

Shortly after the arrival of flights a shuttle bus goes to the train station in Pau. On the way this bus stops by the University of Pau, the Place de Verdun and the Rue Valérie Meunier.

Car rental Pau Pyrénées Airport

In the Arrivals Hall there are counters for the car rental companies Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, National/Citer and Sixt. You can also reserve a rental car in advance using the service EasyTerra provides. They compare the rates of several providers in a single quote.

Taxi

Taxis stand in front of the Arrivals Hall. A ride to Pau takes about 15 minutes and costs approximately € 20.00.

Airport Parking

There are two parking areas (P1 and P2). The prices are the same for both areas for the first day (less than 3 hours, € 1.00, 24 hours € 10.00). After that it is cheaper to park at P2 (3 days € 17.00) that at P1 (3 days € 22.00).

Hotels

There are no hotels at the airport, but Pau is nearby and the city has a large offering of hotels in all categories. For more hotels and reserving online you can go to Booking.com. They have a large offering of hotels with great internet rates.

Shops and restaurants

There is one restaurant (‘Restaurant de l’Aéroport’, tel: +33(0)5 5933 3323) that consists of a bar section (also snacks), a brasserie (inexpensive fixed menus) and an á la carte section.

Next to the restaurant you can find a kiosk with newspapers, books and cigarettes. The Airport Shop (tel: +33(0)5 5933 2445) is specialized in local products like wines, foie gras, Armagnac and sweets.

Baggage

The general information counter also serves as the counter for lost and found items.

Information

The general information counter (CCI Information Desk, tel: +33(0)5 5933 3300) can be found on the ground level of the terminal between the Arrivals Hall and Departures Hall. There is a separate tourist kiosk with brochures about activities and places of interest in Pau and the Béarn region. You can also book accommodations there.

Business

The airport has a few meeting rooms to rent but only for small groups. Catering is available. For reservations you can contact the Management Personal Assistant (tel: +33(0)5 5933 3359).

The VIP Lounge “Jacqueline Auriol” can be reserved through the Airport Station Manager (tel: +33(0)6 5933 3354).

Handicapped persons

The airport is accessible for wheelchair users and there are a few parking places reserved for handicapped persons. For assistance you can go to the general information counter or call tel: +33(0)5 5933 3300. If you need a wheelchair at the airport you can contact your airline.
