Montpellier-Mediterranee Airport (MPL)

Montpellier-Méditerranée Airport was previously called Fréjorgues Airport. Thanks to the arrival of the budget airline Ryanair the airport has experienced a considerable growth. But there are not only low cost carriers at this airport; British Airways also flies out of Montpellier.

Local transport

Train

There is no train connection with the airport. Many destinations in France are accessible from the train station in the centre of Montpellier.

Car bus

The airport lies along highway A9 (Nîmes-Barcelona) and is accessible at exit 29 (Montpellier-Est).

There is a shuttle bus that goes from the airport to the centre of Montpellier. A ticket costs € 4.80. Tel: +33(0)467 920 143.

Car rental Montpellier-Méditerranée Airport

In the Arrivals Hall you can find the counters for the car rental companies Ada, Avis, Hertz, National, Europcar and Sixt. You can also reserve a rental car in advance using the service EasyTerra provides. They compare the rates of several providers in a single quote.

Taxi

Taxis are in front of the Arrivals Hall at Exit A (tel: +33(0)467 206 529). A ride to Montpellier costs about € 20.00.

Airport Parking

There are two areas for short term parking (P2 and P3) and an area for long term parking (P4). P2 is close to the terminal building and costs € 4.20 for two hours. At P3 parking for two hours costs € 2.10. In the area for long term parking the cost is € 6.50 per day.

Hotels

There are no hotels at the airport, but in Montpellier there is large offering of hotels including the Holiday Inn (tel: +33(0)4 671 23232) and Sofitel (tel: +33(0)4 679 97272). For more hotels and reserving online you can go to Booking.com. They have a large offering of hotels with great internet rates.

Shops and restaurants

There is a reasonable offering of shops, restaurants and snack bars considering that this is a fairly small airport. Be advised: after the security checkpoint there is not much offered, so try to stay as long as you can in front of the security checkpoint!

Baggage

The general information point is also the place that looks after lost and found items. You cannot store luggage at the Montpellier Airport.

Handicapped persons

The airport building is very accessible for handicapped persons. There are wheelchair ramps and adapted elevators, restrooms and telephones. In all parking areas there are places reserved for handicapped persons.
