Ajaccio Airport (AJA)

Ajaccio is the capital of Corsica and is on the west coat of the island Corse-du-Sud. The airport Campo dell'Oro is five kilometers east of the city on the other side of the bay. One million travelers use Ajaccio Airport each year.

Local transport

Train

There is no train connection with the airport, but there is a shuttle bus to the station in Ajaccio.

Car and bus

From the airport, the main road 193 leads you to Ajaccio, the directions are clearly indicated. Travel time to Ajaccio is approximately ten minutes.

A bus leaves regularly to the center of Ajaccio from the airport, travel time is approximately 20 minutes and a ticket costs €4.50.

Car rental - Ajaccio Airport

There are counters in the Arrivals Hall for car rental companies: Ada, Avis, Budget, Citer Cors, Europcar, Hertz, Rent-a-Car and Sixt. You can also reserve a rental car in advance using the service EasyTerra provides, they compare the rates of several car rental providers in a single quote.

Taxis are in front of the terminal exit and reservations can be made through (tel: +33(0)4 9523 8927).

Airport Parking

There are ample parking places by the terminal and there is no difference between short and long-term parking. The rates are: up to 2 hours €2.00, up to 12 hours €2.50 and €4.00 per day after that. A three month parking pass costs €100.00. Information can be obtained at the service counter in the Central Hall.

Hotels

There are no hotels at the airport, but Ajaccio is only a short distance away and there are a number of hotels at all service levels. The nearest hotel is Hotel Campo Dell'Oro (tel: +33(0)4 9522 3241), one kilometer from the airport. For more hotels and to reserve online you can go to Booking.com, they have a large range of hotels with great internet rates.

Shops and restaurants

The small airport has a limited number of shops and restaurants. There is a bar, an ice cream shop and a restaurant, there are also some shops including an art gallery.

Baggage

The general information counter also functions as the information point for lost and found items. You cannot store baggage at Ajaccio Airport.

Information

You can find the information counter in the Central Hall where you can request information about arrival and departure times of airplanes, buses, and trains from Ajaccio. There are also computer screens with tourist information about Corsica.

Business

Ajaccio Airport does not have a business center, however there are plans for one in the future. Extensive business facilities can be found at Hotel Campo Dell'Oro and in Hotel Castel Vecchio in the center of Ajaccio.

Disabled facilities

The airport is reasonably accessible for the disabled. There are wheelchair ramps and adapted restrooms.

Other services

There is no bank at the airport but there is an ATM. Wireless internet is available in the terminal.
