Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (HEL)
The full name of the airport in the Finnish capital is Helsinki-Vantaa Airport and is 18 kilometers north of Helsinki. It was built for the Olympic Games in 1952 and is considered one of the best airports in Europe. There are two terminals: one for domestic flights (T1) and one for international flights (T2). T2 was expanded and modernized in 2004. With the expansion of the airport the shopping area, among other things, was increased. The terminals are 250 meters from each other and are connected by a covered walkway. Helsinki Airport processes about 13 million passengers annually.
Local transport
Train
There is no train connection with the airport. The Finnair City Bus goes to the train station in Helsinki.
Car and bus
The airport is easily accessible from the ring road III (Kehä III) in the Finnish capital. Follow the signs to the airport. The airport is also accessible from the Road 45 to/from Tuusula. The website has a clear map of the roads to the airport.
The Finnair City Bus leaves every half hour from the International Terminal and also stops at T1 and two Airport Hotels. Upon request the bus can take you to various places in Helsinki. Rate: € 5.20.

Car rental Helsinki-Vantaa Airport
In the Arrivals Hall there are car rental companies Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt. You can also reserve a rental car in advance using the service EasyTerra provides. They compare the rates of several providers in a single quote.
Taxi
A taxi ride to the centre of Helsinki takes about a half hour and costs approximately € 30.00. You can share a taxi with other passengers for a fixed price (tel: +358(0)600 555 555). In the Arrival Halls 1 and 2 there are service counters for taxis.
Airport Parking
In front of the terminals there is space short term parking (pikaparkki), max. 1 hour, € 1.00 per 10 minutes. Long term parking is in parking areas P3, P4 and P5 (€ 36.00 - € 42.00 per week). Parking places for business travelers are reserved in P1 (€ 20.00 per 24 hours) and P2 (€ 15.00 per 24 hours).

Hotels
There is one hotel at the airport: Scandic Hotel Gateway (tel: +358(0)981 836 00). Other hotels in the area are Ramada Hotel Airport (tel: +358(0)941 575 100), Holiday Inn Garden Court (tel: +358(0)987 0900) and Cumulus Airport Hotel (tel: +358(0)941 577 100). Shops and restaurants
There are many bars, cafés, restaurants and shops at the airport, including one duty free shop. A new shop has been opened in Baggage Hall 3 for arriving passengers.
Baggage
The airport has a contract with Finland´s Found Property Service (tel: +358(0)600 410 06) for the lost and found items area. You can inquire about lost luggage on the website.
You can store baggage in Arrivals Hall 2 by the Travel Point (tel: +358(0)961 513 900).
Information
There are three information counters: (tel: +358(0)2001 4636): In the Arrivals Hall and Departures Hall of T2 and in the Arrivals hall of T1.
Furthermore, there are various counters for tour operators and an office for the Finnish Bureau of Tourism (tel: +358(0)108 265 920).
Business
The Congress Centre (tel: +358(0)981 83 737) in T2 has nine conference rooms up to a maximum of 140 persons equipped with fax, telephone and audiovisual equipment. Catering can also be taken care of.
In addition there are four VIP lounges in the VIP Centre (tel: +358(0)982 773 117). There are also offices to rent, and in the VIP President Terminal there are lounges for larger groups (receptions, parties, etc.).
The eService Bar (tel: +358(0)961 513 924) offers computers with internet connection. You can find this bar by Gate 20 in T2.
Handicapped persons
Elevators and restrooms are adapted for wheelchair users. For persons who are hard of hearing there is information available through a text telephone (tel: +358(0)982 773 377). There are parking places reserved for handicapped persons in both terminals.

Other services
There are banks, money exchange offices and cash machines. In Arrivals Hall 3 there is a pharmacy (+358(0)927 090 772). Guided tours can be requested through tel: +358(0)982 773 103. The airport has nine rooms for smokers, two of which are in the Baggage Hall. In the Departures Hall in T1 there is a hairdresser called Salon Fly Hair.
