Copenhagen Airport (CPH)

Originally the airport was called the Kastrup Airport after where the airport is located. The official name of the airport is still Copenhagen Airport. Kastrup is only to distinguish it from the smaller airport by the Danish capital, Copenhagen Airport – Roskilde. Kastrup is the largest airport in Scandinavia. The airport processes more than 20 million travelers per year. There are three terminals. Terminal 1 is for domestic flights, and Terminals 2 and 3 are for international flights.

Prices are given in the Danish krone (DKK). € 1.00 = DKK 7.45, 1.00 DKK = € 0.13 (December 2006).

Local transport

Train

The train station is under Terminal 3. You can buy tickets by the DSB counter in the Arrivals Hall. Trains leave to the Copenhagen Central Station, to Helsingør and Bornholm and to Malmö in Sweden.

The airport will be connected to Copenhagen by the metro system in October 2007.

Car and bus

The airport is eight kilometers southeast of Copenhagen along the E20 which connects Copenhagen to Malmö, Sweden via the Øresund Bridge. To use this bridge you pay at the top of the Swedish side.

In front of Terminal 2 there are stops for various bus lines. Bus numbers 2, 30, 36 and 250S (express service) go the centre of the Danish capital. Bus 888 connects the airport with Århus in Jutland. At night there is a bus (96N) to Rådhuspladsen. Busses in Sweden are developed by the companies Swebus Express, Eurolines and Gråhundbus.

Car rental Copenhagen Airport

You can find the counters for car rental companies in Terminal 3: Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt. In Terminal 1 there are only Avis, Europcar and Hertz. You can also reserve a rental car in advance using the service EasyTerra provides. They compare the rates of several car rental providers in a single quote.

Taxi

Many taxis can be found outside the terminals. A ride to Copenhagen lasts approximately 15 minutes and costs DKK 200. In front of the Arrivals Hall of Terminal 3 are separate places reserved for taxis to Sweden.

Airport Parking

The parking lots have five different colors: yellow (Economy, P15), orange (Economy Plus, F1), light blue (Business Light, P1, P2, P5 and P9), cobalt blue (Business Premium, P4, P7, P10 and P12) and dark blue (Business Executive, P6 and P8).

Economy: DKK 250 for 8 days, DKK 425 for 15 days.
Economy Plus: DKK 320 (low season)/445 (high season) for 8 days, DKK 530/655 for 15 days.

Business Light: DKK 145 per day.
Business Premium (covered): DKK 230 per day.
Business Executive (covered): DKK 295 per day.

Services

Hotels

Between P7 and P9 is the Hilton Hotel (tel: +45(0)3250 1501). In the Transit Hall you can find the Transfer Hotel (tel: +45(0)3231 2455, maximum stay 16 hours) where you can use a sauna among other things. For more hotels and reserving online you can go to Booking.com. They have a large offering of hotels with great internet rates.

Shops and restaurants

The airport in Copenhagen has an extensive offering of stores, snack bars, cafés and restaurants. People who love a good steak from Australia need to go to “A Hereford Beefstouw” on the second level of Terminal 2.

Baggage

You can store baggage between Terminals 2 and 3 (tel: +45(0)3231 2360) for DKK 30 per day. For bikes and ski equipment an extra DKK 40 is charged per day. There are also baggage safes there. For lost and found items you can go to one of the service counters. Found objects are put on the website of the airport (you can look back up to 30 days).

Information

In all terminals there are service counters which are also accessible by tel: +49(0)3231 2448. They also offer information about tourist attractions in Denmark and Sweden.

Business

Business services are available in the Hilton Business Centre (tel: +45(0)3244 5208). There are 29 offices and meeting rooms for maximum 90 persons and one conference hall for a maximum of 450 persons. All rooms are equipped with modern equipment for communication and presentations. There is an Executive VIP Lounge on the twelfth floor.

The Scandinavian airline SAS has lounges in Terminal 3, and British Airways has a lounge in Terminal 2.

Handicapped persons

The airport has outstanding accessibility for handicapped persons. There are wheelchair ramps and adapted restrooms, elevators, and telephones. A wheelchair user can be accompanied to the gate. You need to present yourself with a passport photo and a passport at the service counter in Terminal 3. For more information you can also call tel: +45(0)3232 0000. There are parking places reserved for handicapped travelers.

Other services

You can find banks in Terminal 2, but cash machines are in all terminals. There is a post office between Terminal 2 and 3. You can find computers with internet connection in various places and there is wireless internet available in the whole airport.

There is a children’s play corner in the Transit Hall. There is a silence centre on the second floor of Terminal 2. In Arrivals Hall of Terminal 3 is the First Aid station.
